JockTamsonsBairns Mon 22-Aug-11 23:21:05

FreudianSlipper Mon 22-Aug-11 23:22:57

JockTamsonsBairns Mon 22-Aug-11 23:23:06

And how have you found this out?

Pamplemoussse Mon 22-Aug-11 23:23:11

oh yes it rhymes in the way as perk and hunt do

you silly old thing, you

[slaps FS playfully on the hand with closed fan]

Fontsnob Mon 22-Aug-11 23:23:38

Yes, comes from berkeley hunt. Cunt. smile this amuses me...that's very childish of me I realise.

JockTamsonsBairns Mon 22-Aug-11 23:24:11

Oh ok

raffle Mon 22-Aug-11 23:24:16

Berkshire hunt

MrsSippy Mon 22-Aug-11 23:24:21

wasn't it something to do with the Berkley Hunt = cunt?

Or is that an urban myth

MrsSippy Mon 22-Aug-11 23:24:53

oh I type soooooo slowly!!

GiveMeStrength2day Mon 22-Aug-11 23:25:09

Berkshire Hunt...
I love it cos there aren't too many people who know what it really means whereas I do actually know what I'm calling somebody grin

MrsBradleyCooper Mon 22-Aug-11 23:25:10

I used to go around calling people twats as a child. Thought it was along the lines of twit or twerp. Only discovered the true meaning in my early twenties grin

Fontsnob Mon 22-Aug-11 23:25:32

Ah, discovered when trying to prove to dh that whistle and toot was suit. Obviously I was wrong on that one though as it's whistle and flute. Good old google.

MrsDBouquet Mon 22-Aug-11 23:26:21

Well I never. You learn something new every day.

Just as easy to say as to type.

Works for me ! grin

Pamplemoussse Mon 22-Aug-11 23:27:15

this kind of doesn't work because of course one pronounces Berkeley as Barkley

FabbyChic Mon 22-Aug-11 23:27:34

Its not whistle and toot, its whistle and flute.

Im a cockney!

dozyrosie Mon 22-Aug-11 23:27:59

As in berk, berkin, merkin, as in pubic wig there for cunt?!?!

Fontsnob Mon 22-Aug-11 23:28:22

You berk! So delightfully passive aggressive.

LRDTheFeministDragon Mon 22-Aug-11 23:28:24

Oh, that's brilliant. My dad uses 'berk' a lot and I bet he doesn't know that, he goes a bit pale when I say 'cunt' (which I do try not to do in front of him, before you ask!).

MrsDBouquet Mon 22-Aug-11 23:28:40

I bet you go up the apples and pears to Bedford-shire, don't you ?!

Fontsnob Mon 22-Aug-11 23:29:13

I know that now fabby, I was being a berk.

Pamplemoussse Mon 22-Aug-11 23:31:09

oh I love a bit of ole cockerney rhyme

plates of meat, currant bun, joanna
