very split here. Just seen eldest put the coppers from DH change into the pot by the check out in the shop then ds put 27 p in outside the shops too ( ds was his money xo I guess I shouldn't comment but I do subsidise him a lot) .

I am part " how sweet and kind" and part "aaaargh" at the waste of money!! That was probably 40p which to me is a tin of beans or similar as part of a fairly tightly budgeted family shop .....

Won't be on line for a bit so not trolling and vanishing honest.

I'm probably just a total tight wad I know!

It might help if you specify exactly what your aibu is.

YABU its good that your kids are thinking of others before themselves.

If you give your children pocket money, it's up to them what they do with it.

Aibu to go "arrrgh" which was my honest 1st reaction-to feel my parenting has lead them to care for others ( or maybe be gullibly dragged in by the " you won't miss a few pennies" advertising ) against the fact that they will have to manage their own dosh very very soon.

I think your kids sound great.
If they were putting fivers in, maybe not, but 27p doesn't buy a bag of crisps.

YABU. If your ds wants to give his pennies to charity then it's up to him.

If you feel it's irresponsible and he needs the money more than the specific charity then stop subsidising him especially if you can't afford it.
