AIBU?

to think that this site should be called Parentsnet?

If it's a site 'By parents for parents', isn't Mumsnet a little sexist? We've all seen how members here react to any sort of anti women agenda so is this seen as acceptable because it's anti dads?

That's just whiny bullshit, and I say that as a male human type thing.

It's not whiny. I'm not on Netmums. I have nothing against this site in particular, but when you see the ricockulousness of some of the feminist threads, this seemed a valid point, one I stand by.

YANBU. People on here are always saying "Oh MN is or EVERYONE...Mums, Dads...random truckers..." and then they all call it fecking MUMS net.

Whose net IS it then? YADNBU

I don't think the not insignificant number of regular male posters on here feel that the site is anti-dads.

Report
bruxeur · 19/08/2011 20:26

It's really quite whiny.

Now I'm annoyed. Don't knock the feminists or I'll go over there and have them all come here and bollok you.

Another male saying ffs, I don't feel that I am the victim of discrimination here. Mumsnet rolls off the tongue, Parentsnet doesn't.

oh stop moaning

I believe the title is. Thank you Mumbling. If it was Dadsnet, and it was this very same site, there would be uproar.

I also don't think it's anti-dad - most of the members are women and they are not likely to post new threads saying how wonderful DH or DP is generally or has been today. Nor should they unless they want to.

robotlollypopman · 19/08/2011 20:28

The site doesn't claim to include non parents. It goes out of its way to tell you it's for parents.

So the basis of your whine is you don't like some of the feminist threads. Don't read them, then.
Go and set up your own site for dads. See how far that gets you.

Parentsnet conjures up images of couples sitting together on the settee agreeing what to say before posting. Not for me. Grin

I don't mind the feminist threads. But sexism works both ways.

the site is aimed at mums, if someone wants to set a site up for dads then thats ok but there is nothing wrong in something being aimed at mums but welcoming everyone in surely?

I like to think I helped make Dadsnet happen. My work was not in vain.

Lets go the whole hog and call it Parents/GuardiansorSignificantAdultsNet.

Honeydragon · 19/08/2011 20:37

We have a dadsnet here why not post in there and ask them. Ignore the tumbleweed though as a quite a few of chaps are of engaging elsewhere.

I think your feminist bashing was a bit unnecessary and adds nothing to your question though.

Oh no, Sue, some people on it have no child (on the ramp or in the hangar) and are not sig. adults either. They just read it for fun.

OP, be a good chap and find something more important to worry about.

Or Of the people, By the people, For the people.

Oh, no. That's already been taken.

robotlollypopman - perhaps you could move on to sorting out this.
