Facebook status pissed me off a bit

I know - bloody Facebook!
Someone I know (parent at school) wrote this as their FB status today:

THE RIOTERS PRAYER........Our father, who art in prison, my mum knows not his name, thy Riots come, read it in the sun, in Birmingham, as it is in London, give us this day our Welfare bread & forgive us our looting, as we're happy to loot those who defend stuff against us, lead us not into employment but deliver us free housing, for thine is the teles, the Burberry & the Barcardi, forever and ever amen.

Am I just being sensitive about the single parent bashing going on at the moment, or am I justified in wanting to hit him over the head with a big stick?

Surely most single mothers know the names of the father of their children though? Not really single parent bashing, imo, more irresponsible parenting/one night stand bashing.

The single parent bashing is annoying, but I don't think that's what this is. And I'm someone who has ranted daily about the single parent bashing.

Seen that on quite a lot of peoples status today... copy & paste status's always irritate me... shows a severe lack of imagination..

The only one that lots of people copied and put as their status that has ever amused me was this one:

A dying granny tells her granddaughter, "I want to leave you my farm. That includes the villa, the tractor, and other equipment, the farmhouse and £22,398,750.78 in cash.".
The granddaughter about to become rich says, "oh granny, you are so generous. I didn't even know you had a farm. Where is it?". With her last breath, granny whispered,
"Facebook..."

Saw this on my FB too, didn't read past the first four words because it's a copied and pasted crappy chain post, and they all tend to be full of bad grammar and spelling which really annoys me. So YABU for reposting it here. Also, YABU for caring what people say about single parents. Small minded bigotry, let it go over your head. :)

That's what my RL friend was saying, Skyrg. I think it's just stereotyping that annoys me more than anything. Why should any particular group of people be blamed? Surely the riots were a mix of people from different situations?

sqeaky - I assumed it might be a copy and paste thing, but hadn't seen it on anyone else's status (I don't have that many "friends" though) I agree they're mostly a bit shit. The dying granny one is quite funny though :)

Sorry squeaky - spelled your name wrong Blush

Sorry Crazybit for unreasonably posting it here. I think I'm only bothered because it's another parent at school and I would be upset if he thought that my dd was going to end up like that because I am a single parent IYSWIM.

There is one copy and paste status I have loved this last few weeks:

Your vodka is Russian. Your pizza is Italian. Your kebab is Turkish. Your democracy is Greek. Your coffee is Brazilian. Your movies are American. Your tea is Sri Lankan. Your shirt is Indian. Your oil is Saudi Arabian. Your car is Japanese. Your electronics are Chinese. Your numbers Arabic, your letters Latin. And you complain that your neighbour is an immigrant? Pull yourself together.

Where do people get the ones that go along the lines of...

Do you know someone who works tirelessly for very little money or reward because they are selfless angels who go without food or shelter and are never thanked blah bla blah..I know many of you won't, but my real friends will- so if you know a blah blah, post this on your wall for an hour and show them how much they mean to you

Blah.
Is there a website for these? They all follow the same format.

I have actually hidden people for repeatedly putting these sheeplike status's on their FB because it pisses me off so much.

Do you know someone who knows someone who has ever known someone known anyone? If so, copy and paste this status to show your support. 93% of people won't - will you??

I very rarely do status updates at all, and especially of the cut and paste variety, but did like this one:

Some doctor on tv this morning said the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I'd started & hadn't finished, then I finished off a bottle of Vodka, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of wum, a pock of Prungles, 1/2 chesecke an a boc a choclez. Yu haf no idr how bludy fablus I feeel now. Plaese sned dhis orn to dem yu fee ar in ned ov innr pisss.

I found the butchered ones involving pandas and dragons amusing, purely because a certain percentage of my friend list were very confused by them. I am A Bad Person(tm)

Procrastinator It is at least true :)

joric I have no idea. I don't know why people bother writing that sort of shite. Someone started sending me snotty PM on FB because I didn't copy and paste a status about how much I love my child the other week which I think is similar to what you are talking about.

The ones that irritate me the most are.. "if you are a mum you are amazing, blah blah blah repost this".... or the ones meant to make you feel a twat if you dont repost it.. ie "1 in 3 people will get cancer...if you care, repost this blah blah"..

They are the modern day equivalent of a chain letter, and I actually find a lot of them insensitive and offensive.. if the words were actually the own personal thoughts of the person whose status it is, then fair enough, but when it has merely been copied, then to me, it is bloody meaningless.

I've blocked several people on Facebook after they posted this sort of shyte. In fact, this sort of shyte was an unexpectedly depressing consequence of the whole shebang given that I didn't realise I was giving FB house room to people who held such appalling, reactionary and ignorant opinions.

southeastastra you like my name? Thank you :)

squeaky - I particuarly hate the repost if you want a cure for cancer crap. Of course I want a cure for cancer. Doesn't everyone?! I'm not reposting that shit though as it won't help. I have written that before because I was seething!

The majority of single parents are on the social. They are chavs and they do have different fathers for their different kids. That's life and society.

Oh and before I get slammed. I'm a single parent have been for 16 years.
