I actually think the knickers are very pretty and age-appropriate, wouldn't have a problem with DD having them for 'best', the bras are just horrible though, but at least they're not padded.

I don't get why children need lingerie. Christ, if I didn't wrestle DS2 out of his grundies daily he'd wear them for a freaking week. It's not like they care. I can't imagine many 4 year old girls asking for a matching bra and knicker set tbh.

i have seen other pictures from this range, the photos are a little disturbing out of principle i would not buy from this company

i do not like any adult looking or over styled clothes on children, do not even like skinny jeans on young children or styled spiky gelled hair or worse the rock chick look

I don't see why they should or could be banned. If I don't like something - which, in this case I don't, I don't need anyone else to tell me not to buy it.

I am very uneasy with the term 'sexualisation of children' which is usually applied to girls who wear things that are a bit tarty and gives us a chance to tut at their mums.

Number one because it implies that girls or their parents are to blame for the crimes of paedophiles.

Number two because it's a normal part of growing up that around the age of 13 or 14 we become aware of our burgeoning adulthood and start wearing and doing things that might be a little bit out there for our parents. That's for negotiation between parent and child. Most people manage it.

This is not only normal, but desirable - why would anyone want to keep their adolescent or adult child permanently like Shirley Temple?

I should have put the ages earlier than that. Aged 9 or 10 I was aware of boys and the concept of 'looking nice' along with most of my friends. Didn't do anything about it though because my parents handled it calmly without needing anyone else to tell them what to do.

I think there is a vast difference between encouraging and allowing kids to develop their own sexuality at a rate and pace that is suitable for them and presenting children as mini adults in poses that suggest a sexuality well beyond their years.

The collection in question is aimed at 4-12 yr olds. There are vast differences in age and stage appropriate sexual expression within that range of ages.

People don't always agree with bikinis but they do serve a purpose. A bra serves no purpose on a 4 year old. Seriously. And naturally occuring sexuality in a 13 or 14 year old is one thing forcing it on a 4 year old isn't and doesn't make sense

why not just make vests to go with pants at that age? I was in a bra at 10 mind and would have liked something somehow age appropriate rather than a granny bra. With horses on it or something.

am at the t-shirt slogans. I find them more offensive to be honest although I wouldn't buy either.

Twit the tshirt slogans I have actually only seen on baby and toddler tshirts. WHich I know kind of soundsworse...but the point (I guess) is that the baby doesn't know what it is wearing. So while I think they are vile I find the lingerie for children more offensive myself

I find the laugerie on the same par as bikinis, they serve no purpose either. I think it would have been better to have launched these in natural bra sizes as some 10 or 11 year olds do wear and require bras and these are actually very nice and tastefull for this age group.

Except, for me, the issue is the advertising not the product. Put a young girl wearing full makeup and a bikini in those photos and my feelings would be the same. Despite the fact that I have no problems with little girls in bikinis.

However ambivalent and "so don't buy it" you feel about the products, don't you think the photos are hugely inappropriate?

I don't like the advertising at all but that aside I think the product is nice.

What age are the bras for?

I couldn't see on the website and it looked to me as if the black and white set was a bikini - is it not? I certainly see nothing wrong with a 10+ year old girl wearing a triangle style bra, I know at that age I suddenly became concious that my nipples were visible through my school shirt but I didn't want a vest and I think the versions on that website are infinitely more appealing than some of that padded push up versions available for the tweenage market in this country.

The knickers and vests are beautiful and my DD (6) would love matcjing underwear like that (frankly she'd steal my knickers and wear them every day if she thought she could get away with it)
