DS and I had walked to the Post Office this morning, which takes about 20 minutes.
All that is on this little parade of shops is the Post Office, a small Boots and a doctor's surgery.
As we apporached the shops, DS (4) suddenly annouced he had a tummy ache and needed a poo.
No problem, thinks I, there's a doctor's surgery. It's not my doctor. I went in and asked the receptionist (a young lad) if we could please use the loo. By this time, DS was doing the toilet dance. The lad said no we couldn't.
We ran accross the road to Boots and asked and the lady was very apologetic and said it wasn't possible because of the drugs (fair enough). DS was unusually polite and said 'I'll be careful' which made us all smile, but is irrelevant.
DS was about to explode so we dashed back to the Dr's and I took him behind a bush which was sort of the side of the building, held him up and he went. It was just watery so no chance of picking it up as you would a dog poo.
When he had finished and we turned around, I realised there was a narrow but tall window into the waiting room (which was empty) and the lad at the reception may well have seen.
We walked off quickly.
Was I wrong? Was there an alternative?

I would have said to the receptionist that my son uses your toilet or you have sloppy poo all over your floor. Which would you prefer, young man?

Sounds like it was coming out regardless!!! What else could you have done. Did the receptionist give a reason why they wouldn't let a clearly desperate 4yo use their patient toilet? Seems a bit of a shitty trick to me, if you'll pardon the pun.

In those circumstances you didn't have much option. - why wouldn't they let you use the doctor's loo? - how mean. Your little DS did very well to hang on as long as he did, - poor wee chap, is he feeling better now?

I don't like the idea of kids pooing outside public buildings but I really don't see that you had any choice. I'm surprised the receptionist didn't let you use the toilet in the surgery tbh (although my GP surgery is quite big and you could easily use the toilets without anyone even noticing).

I can understand Boots saying no, but the Drs must have a toilet the public can use

Ignore lad at doctor's desk - it just showed him that
a) your son definitely needed a poo and
b) he only went behind the bush because the lad refused him use of the toilet - point made!!

Pearlym, with hindsight, maybe, but would it be environmentally safe to pour disinfectant onto grass?
I was really cross at DS not being allowed to use the toilet.

True, callisto, but it was in a gap about two feet wide, between the wall of the building and a hedge, a good six feet from the door. It wasn't a turd, as such, as much as poo water, so not pick-upable.

Last time I was pregnant with dc1 DH nd me went on an outing to a nearby town. I desperately needed the loo and asked in a Dr's surgery. I was quite evidently pregnant at 30+ weeks and desperate. The stupid receptionist told me I couldnt use the toilet as it was for patients only.

Sounds like you had a similar encounter, it's just makes you sick how selfish and ignorant some people can be.

I would however have told my dc to have done it there in front of the receptionist rather than take him outside!

Given the poo was as watery as the OP described in her original post, it will have disappeared in a couple of hours anyway (and in any case rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow). Disinfectant would be far worse for the environment.

Oh, there were loos, Sassy, but they were through a locked door where you need to be buzzed in. He wouldn't let us through.
