AIBU?

to complain?

DP and I have just returned from a 'luxury' holiday and have spent the day in and out of the walk in centre as it transpires we've been extensively bitten by bed bugs (we thought it was just mosquitos while away!) and DP has now got a nasty skin infection as a result of them.

The trip wasn't cheap, we stayed in, what we thought, was a good quality hotel (which to be fair it was aside from the bed bugs) and now on top of having part of the holiday ruined due to severe itching we're now sucking up the cost of prescription charges for strong antihistimines, antibiotics and steroid creams! Then there is the extensive amount of cleaning we're going to have to do - aside from the clothes we're going to have to disinfect the suitcases, deep clean the car and potentially (although hopefully we've avoided this) fumigate the house if the little bastards have come back with us.

AIBU to complain to the people we booked it through or should we just leave it?

Complain definitely. What have you got to lose?

NO! Complain! complain! complain!!

Bedbugs are a sign that the hotel is not being maintained properly so therefore should not be classed as luxury!

Plus your now suffering as a result! where theres blame theres a claim!

complain
I am going to complain about my holiday(not the holiday just the fact that the company made a rather big mistake that you op would understand, kind of meant getting in and out of rooms was bloody hard)
it will make you feel better/will let the people you booked with know the problem and yes you should get help with costs

YANBU complain and keep complaining until they listen properly. Dont accept their first offer of £50 off your next holiday! - like you would go with them again Grin

Complain - not just for compensation (although you do deserve to be compensated!) but because if you don't it won't get sorted and other people will have this happen to them.

I have friends who had the same thing happen to them, although they realised while they were still at the hotel. The manager was mortified and they were compensated and treated very nicely for the remainder of their stay (in a different room) although it didn't really help with the itching...
