To think crisps eaten from a bowl are much classier - and probably less fattening?

DH not back yet from stag do - 3 nights away. DD (7mo) in bed, all washing done and put away. Glass of Frascati and some Seabrooks can't do any harm can they?

Yum yum grin

Everyone knows that crisps from a bowl contain 100% fewer calories than eaten from the packet.

Doilooklikeatourist Sun 14-Aug-11 20:22:25

Especially if eaten standing on one leg , in the kitchen .
Probably on minus calories by now .

Cheers.
On a glass of red. ....and some fruit and nut.....

Depends how many time you go back and refill the bowl. Up to four is fine.

Tee2072 Sun 14-Aug-11 20:23:47

Break them in half first, as then the calories leak out.

Fact.

If nobody see's you eat them the calories don't count.

rhondajean Sun 14-Aug-11 20:27:04

The calories expended in opening the bag, then putting the crisps into the bowl, then carrying the bowl through, must surely mean it ends up as almost a calorie neutral snack.

I think wine counts towards your five a day too.

All food eaten while watching a film also has no calories. Enjoy grin

Wigeon Sun 14-Aug-11 20:28:40

IME if you eat something like an apple that day, it cancels out the calories from the crisps. Also works for chocolate/ fruit juice, or ice-cream / oat cake.

80% of the fat, and all of the salt, evaporate on contact with air.

WhoahThere Sun 14-Aug-11 20:29:07

Am reading about organic stuff in the Observer food mag too for bonus points!

DontCallMePeanut Sun 14-Aug-11 20:29:54

This may be why my diets never work... I listen to MN too much hmm

Fiendishlie Sun 14-Aug-11 20:30:43

and all food that someone else pays for is completely calorie-free too

whatsallthehullaballoo Sun 14-Aug-11 20:31:10

Then why am I so fat confused

mummymeister Sun 14-Aug-11 20:50:42

If you eat a bar of chocolate all in one go it is not as fattening as eating a square a day. I am living proof - i am not fat i am just big boned.

queenmaeve Sun 14-Aug-11 20:53:00

And if you dip them in salsa, the chiili will actually burn away any fat from the crisps

LittlebearH Sun 14-Aug-11 20:59:33

If no one sees you eat them, there are NO calories. Applies to all food. Although someone told me there are as many calories in a glass of wine as there are in a packet of crisps. FFS drinks count??

rhondajean Sun 14-Aug-11 21:03:52

DH is studying his exercise nutrition course for personal trainers and came back and told me that you MUST eat carbs to be healthy.

He also said that a couple of glasses of wine do no harm as part of an otherwise balanced diet.

I take this as meaning that I should stock up on Sensations and Viognier every week. Just to be healthy.

kidsscareme Sun 14-Aug-11 21:17:29

So glad to have this theory confirmed as just sitting with large wine and mini bowls of crisps, nuts and bacon fries grin

Wont need to exercise tomorrow now as Im sure to be on minus calories by now smile

Squishylicious Sun 14-Aug-11 21:41:40

Oooh I really want some bacon fries now!

GwendolineMaryLacey Sun 14-Aug-11 21:43:37

I want some whole nut. I have no chocolate in the house, not even cooking chocolate chips.

LordOfTheFlies Sun 14-Aug-11 22:31:48

Kettle chips- they are thicker therefore less surface area relitively for fat absorbtion. And a bugger to open, so there's a few calories spent.

And salsa is vegetables isn't it?
Resultgrin

LordOfTheFlies Sun 14-Aug-11 22:34:06

Oh, and what's hand cooked crisps all about.
How can you cook crisps in your hands.?
You don't put your hands into the oil?
Thinks back to that very early episode of Spooks....eek!
