There is an obvious cause for the riots if you want one apart from it was a way of getting 'free' stuff - the huge inequalities in our society. Course Boris et al won't actually say that cos they are all the 'haves' big time.

At least Ken instigated a decent min wage for ALL council employees (£10ph? for council cleaners in London?)

Red Ken - champagne socialism at it's absolute worst. Compared to him Boris is a saint. Actually Boris IS a saint.

Er Chumlee, that's not a halo he's wearing, it's scruffy blond hair.

That's not scruffy Annie - I bet it takes hours to achieve that look! Anyway - entitled buffoon or not - I would!

YABU seeker. Boris is extremely clever, highly educated and the fact that he's well off doesn't in itself undermine his views. Some of the most left-wing of our politicians have come from the same school, university and social background. Boris is idiosyncratic, but he speaks a lot of sense.

I don't mind Boris - at least he isn't apologetic about his privilege in the way Dave is. He's never struck me as having a sense of entitlement.

I think hating somebody because they come from a wealthy background is as bad as doing so because they're poor/disadvantaged.

"Boris Johnson: Saint or Sex Object?" Erm... is there a third choice?

I like the word "buffoon", CurrySpice. The Bouffant Buffoon. It has a ring to it.

boris is clever, and consults and asks to inform himself.ken by all accounts was more meglomaniac.

Haven't noticed London council tax has diminished since Boris arrived though Scottish mummy? Just loads spent on games for the kids. Err... what ecomonic crisis... Grin

Boris is a great larf.... but not sure he's got a clue about what life is like for the majority.

How does Boris have a sense of entitlement? Or have I misunderstood the OP? And why should having a privileged background immediately make a person unable to hold views on people with less money? It is such a chippy attitude to take.

You buffoon Annie!

I was thinking about that Annie when I typed it. The mood I'm in today, it shouldn't take me long to find a buffoon to label :o

Callisto, I don't think it makes them unable to hold the views. I do think it gives me the right (as I am entitled too :o) to roll my eyes when they pontificate about poor people

cleggy and cameron are the frauds, not boris
all prosperous
but cleggy and cameron play their advantages down. cleggy gets all eh grim oop north,he went to westminster public school

Agree that saying Boris can't hold views because of his background is a bad as saying someone who is underpriveldged can't hold them becuase of theirs. Don't mind Boris too much - he is better than Clegg and Cameron. I think he is a lot cleverer than he makes out and a lot of the "buffooning" is an act.
