A couple of days ago I posted a thread about this

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14458424

I was banned ant the thread deleted

Do you think these two girls are the daughters of someone at MNHQ?

Are they covering up things?

i doubt it very much.

i would imagine your thread was deleted due to the content? was it particularly volatile?

Report
GypsyMoth · 13/08/2011 20:21

No but why were you banned?

Report
sausagejockey · 13/08/2011 20:22

It was not volatile in anyway shape or form at least not from me

why should they ban me?

Don't know. Well done on keeping a low profile though Grin.

Have reported this thread for you and asked MNHQ to contact you to explain the situation to you again.

You must have had an email explaining the ban. What did MNHQ say?

I find it odd that you were banned for just posting this video. I read a transcript of this interview in the newspaper and was utterly appalled. Apparently people who have businesses deserve to get robbed because they are wealthy. I hope the police got these two with their stolen goods.

wow that's a really funny (but depressing) clip

are you sure you weren't banned for something else? surely they would have explained?

Report
LolaRennt · 13/08/2011 20:32

That video has been on mn loads. Must have been a mix up if thats the thing you have posted.

Report this thread and see if MNHQ will explain their reasoning?

I had a post deleted once with no explanation. I emailed and received an apology and told they had been overzealous and would reinstate it. They didn't. When I contacted MNHQ again to ask why it hadn't been reinstated they suggested I repost the comment but it would have been completely out of context at that point in the thread. Instead my original post remained deleted and left people thinking I'd posted something dreadful (which I hadn't).

I think if the forum is busy then there are some at MNHQ who get a bit trigger happy and act without thinking.

Curious.

No idea but thats pretty dodgy if you were banned and the thread deleted just for posting something which is widely in circulation. Mind you, MNHQ have made some pretty strange decisions with pulling other threads and deleting stuff on other occasions. Posts containing factual statements about the McCann incident spring to mind. Doesn't seem much logic to it

I had a message deleted once....no proper explanation, just quoting what I had posted as if it were self explanatory.

The post had been reported. The whole thing was stupid, IMO.

well i've had messages deleted on here for no good reason (factual comments - in fact, one was where I'd QUOTED another poster and put "er i think you might be wrong about X" next to it... she'd asked for her trail of posts to be removed so the zapped mine too).

but then i've also had MN Towers remove posts that i've asked for in the past.

it must be hard to please everyone tbh - they're only human!! and i'm sure they tread a line of caution due to the risk of being sued. wasn't there some TV celeb that threatened to sue MN or netmums because of some posters comments, not that long ago?

point is that they have to be careful about what they are seen to allow or not allow. i think they do an "ok" job overall (from my own experience)

I think that if you were banned you know exactly why you were banned.

Is starting a pathetic shit stirring thread aimed at annoying MNHQ the way someone would behave if they didn't understand why they were banned?

Nancy66 · 13/08/2011 20:43

Are you sure you're banned?

From whaat i understand if anybody reports any post it will probably get deleted just to make life easier

There was a comment on that thread regarding its imminent deletion. Concerns regarding posting with the intention of being inflammatory I think.

Nancy - I reported a post I found extremely offensive. I had a reply to the effect that it was felt to be in poor taste but mnhq couldn't make decisions based on that as where does the line get drawn? So not all reported posts are deleted.
