I've only seen them at garages. Supermarkets usually sell the smaller packets.

My corner shop sells them. He is very reasonable, and does a lovely line in birthday cards from the 1950s.

If you buy a multi pack they are normal size. The only problem is nobody wants the plain in this house. angry [spoiled]

I don't like the notion of "grabbing" in relation to any food or drink. angry It suggests bad manners, eating on the go, and poor time management.

I got a packet of french fries (essentially a few bits of expanding foam) and they were 50 odd pence! shock

Given, I've not bought them in a while and my memory seems to have stuck at when they were 24p for some reason grin but 50+p?!!

JustFiveMinutesHAHAHA Thu 11-Aug-11 17:39:18

Absolutely NO idea what you are on about... ? Clearly been walking around with my eyes shut. But if it's middle sized packets of crisps - it sounds like a good idea to me grin

Never heard of grab bags?

donteatyourteawithnoknickerson Thu 11-Aug-11 17:44:24

Personally I love them. but I am a greedy sod smile

TaudrieTattoo Thu 11-Aug-11 17:45:09

We call them "fat bastard bags" in our house.

JustFiveMinutesHAHAHA Thu 11-Aug-11 17:45:24

Nope - never heard of grab bags.... I'm in the SE of the UK if that makes any difference??

Curiousmama Thu 11-Aug-11 17:50:42

I'm NE England. Are they the big bags for families?

Xbellesx Thu 11-Aug-11 17:57:09

No idea either here,SW Scotland, thought it was something to do supermarkets not giving plastic bags at the checkout anymore...........

ProcrastinatorGeneral Thu 11-Aug-11 18:03:57

They're the bag and a half sized bags of crisps. Handy for sharing at lunchtime. One does the three of us nicely.

AuntiePickleBottom Thu 11-Aug-11 18:09:04

Our uni shop has a meal deal which is basically a sandwich or pasta, a drink and a grab bag of crisps! It costs £3 which isnt bad but i'm trying to cut down and don't need such a big bag but can't stop eating them! I want a normal bag at a decent price please!

Sandalwood Thu 11-Aug-11 18:47:26

They're especially too big for DCs.

EndoplasmicReticulum Thu 11-Aug-11 19:12:04

There are actually 3 sizes of bags - the multipack ones are about 24g, the ones you buy separately are about 35g and the grab bags are even bigger.

I wouldn't want a whole grab bag size either, it's just a way to make them cost more.
