Didn't see the programme, but it wouldn't work in my house - open-plan kitchen/living room, so unless you put locks on the fridge and every food cupboard - or locked the child in his/her room - it wouldn't be possible to shut out a determined child.

And surely it is better to tackle the behaviour/over-eating rather than turning your house into a series of locked rooms? Unless it is something like Prader-Willi syndrome when there is a genetically based compulsion to over eat.

What's the house like? Our kitchen is the center of everything, you have to go through it to get anywhere else, including the loo.

Regardless locks seems a bit... well. Harsh.

Putting junk food too high up or not buying it all would be a good idea if there is a problem, though.

I thought the same!

Plus would you really let your child starve herself for 7 days plus and end up on a drip... she'll learn hmm

That is pretty crazy.

I would vote for the no-junk food plan though. I'm assuming they're not going to very happy if they raid the cupboards and it's only got dry pasta and veg?
