THey're 7 and 3. They put macs and boots and hats ond they're sitting there with a blanket on their knees...they don't want to come in.

It really is pouring down. Do I let them carry on?

ChocolateTeacup Wed 10-Aug-11 13:38:11

Yes, but give them hot chocolate when they do come in

FriskyMare Wed 10-Aug-11 13:38:24

Yes grin

Hellishday Wed 10-Aug-11 13:38:42

Let them. They having fun in a strange way.

NasalCoffeeEnema Wed 10-Aug-11 13:38:56

I would

I remember staying out in storms. a friend had been told what do if stuck out in a storm so we used to follow the advice. More sensible advice would have been to go inside but thats not so much fun

IslaValargeone Wed 10-Aug-11 13:39:03

Of course! As long as they know there is no bouncing allowed, let them get wet and be kids.

worraliberty Wed 10-Aug-11 13:39:09

You're their parent, it's up to what you want them to do.

In or's your choice, not theirs.

auntmargaret Wed 10-Aug-11 13:39:09

Yes, for a while, then warm bath and cuddles on the sofa smile

farnywarny Wed 10-Aug-11 13:39:18

as long as they dont bounce on it which could be dangerous, then yanbu!

babycham42 Wed 10-Aug-11 13:43:18

Yanbu! They won"t dissolve!

dreamfeeder Wed 10-Aug-11 13:44:37

Yeah, let them, good for your kids for being proper kids and not wanting to just watch the telly!!! May my 11 month old grow up like your children, great job!!!!

dreamfeeder Wed 10-Aug-11 13:45:40

i'd probably let them bounce, too!!! esp if a safety net thing up.

GhoulLasher Wed 10-Aug-11 13:49:26

They're in..apparently it's stopped raining. How backwards is that?? They've gone upstairs to make a TV. grin their idea!

peppapighastakenovermylife Wed 10-Aug-11 13:49:39

I had an urge to go out and dance like a fool in the rain the other night so no YANBU!

GypsyMoth Wed 10-Aug-11 13:49:52

GhoulLasher Wed 10-Aug-11 13:51:40

Well I know Worra but my inclantations can sometimes be a bit wanted a concensus.

worraliberty Wed 10-Aug-11 13:55:03

I need to take a shit

Do I use the upstairs loo or the downstairs loo? grin

ProcrastinatorGeneral Wed 10-Aug-11 13:58:31

I went for a trog to shops in the downpour here the other evening. Some of us need rain for a sane brain I think. Good job I live in the UK grin

LoopyLiz88 Wed 10-Aug-11 17:35:13

As long as it isn't lightning then why not

HamstersDontSwim Wed 10-Aug-11 18:03:44

I'd go up stairs worraliberty.

Chummybud1 Wed 10-Aug-11 18:08:19

We did go out and dance like fools in the rain the other night. Me, ds1 age 19, dd age 8, dd age 3' went out, splashing, siting and dancing in the street, the neighbours all peered out their windows in envy. Hey you only live once, it's free fun, let your kids enjoy it

EduStudent Wed 10-Aug-11 19:32:11

Hamsters hmm I think YABU for giving stupid advice. She should obviously use the downstairs toilet. FFS.

I quite fancy trampolining in heavy rain. Just suggested it to my dc and they love the idea. Have to wait for rain though!

YANBU, in fact I love the rain and so does DS. chummy grin wish I had the guts to do that.

The other week at work I was doing physio with a pupil, he went into his walker and we were just going along the corridor to go outside when the heavens opened, he pointed outside laughing and indicating to go out so I opened the double doors and off he went. grin We had a great time.
