but there has been three nights of violence. People have had their homes burnt down and business ruined. we need leadership at times like this....

sorry i've had the news on a loop this morning and it's a bit overwhelming!

I'd rather he was in the Cobra meeting and getting a plan of action together than standing on a podium outside No 10 at the moment making Blair-like noises about the 'people's London' or something.

He's just been on my tv - maybe you'll be next in the queue?

Gosh, yes. i'm sure what he has to say will be of great comfort to those caught in the thick of it.

Is David Cameron your security blanket or something? Why do you need him to speak words of "leadership"? He's not the head of the police or fire service - people are already working and have been to try to regain control of the situation, they don't need "Dave" to make soothing noises to the public to help them out. Will anyone listening to him feel safer? Will any ignorant yob decide not to throw a stone at an ambulance this evening because of whatever he says? No.

Let the professionals do their jobs and stop trying to whip up political hysteria.

might have something to do with you know his job seeing that he is the pm after all??? hmm

What bit of the Prime Minister's job description involves micromanaging emergency services response to a riot? Or the individual London boroughs response?

If I set a building on fire in Plymouth would you expect the PM to take a personal involvement in the response? Or if there are several muggings in Glasgow? This is a concentrated area of criminal activity, being dealt with by the emergency services. The PM can be kept informed and nod gravely, spreading soothing plattitudes about how it's awful and people will be brought to justice, but it's not his job to do anything personally about it.
