I owe you a colander because I used yours to clean the bark from the lizards tank. I mean WTF? I'm gobsmacked, he's doing some unbelievable stuff recently, he's normally so well behaved. sad

VelvetSnow Mon 08-Aug-11 16:13:20

this is bad behaviour??

worraliberty Mon 08-Aug-11 16:13:34

Well at least he told you

At that age I would have just popped it back in the cupboard and avoided veg and salad for a while.....

Mitmoo Mon 08-Aug-11 16:13:46

Tell me about it, my WD40 was used up on cleaning his golf clubs and what a mess!

usualsuspect Mon 08-Aug-11 16:13:49

Oh well, he used his initiative

TattyDevine Mon 08-Aug-11 16:13:58

Can't you just sterilise it? Or wash it in hot soapy water?

<<probably missing the point>>

HeadfirstForHalos Mon 08-Aug-11 16:14:09

At least he told you, and didn't just clean it and put it back shock

rushofbloodtothefeet Mon 08-Aug-11 16:14:17

Can't it be washed?

YABU. It's a colander not an antique vase.

DizzyCow63 Mon 08-Aug-11 16:14:30

YABU. He used it in cleaning out his pet, ie being responsible, he has said he owes you one, it's not like he was deliberately destructive. You are over-reacting.

At least he cleaned the lizard tank?

<<clutches straws>>

VelvetSnow Mon 08-Aug-11 16:15:23

I'm gobsmacked that the OP is gobsmacked!

WilsonFrickett Mon 08-Aug-11 16:15:41

Make him go and buy you another one then! At least he 'cleaned the bark from the lizard's tanks'. <wonders WTF that means and why you need a colander to do it>

HamstersDontSwim Mon 08-Aug-11 16:15:44

Thats not bad! shock

Why cant you/Ds wash the colinder? Is the bark in the lizards tank made of colinder-melting acid or somthing?

HeadfirstForHalos Mon 08-Aug-11 16:16:34

Yes, as Dizzy said he was being responsible cleaning out his pet, yabu.

Catslikehats Mon 08-Aug-11 16:16:42

Y would NBU if he'd told you as you all tucked into freshly colandered salad.

Ormirian Mon 08-Aug-11 16:16:48

It's a colander.

He was taking care of his pet.

What am I missing?

knitpicker Mon 08-Aug-11 16:16:53

I think he sounds very responsible. He did the cleaning and he told you abou the colander. My ds12 has to be begged to help clean out his fish tank - I should just let the little critters die as a lesson to him but I couldn't face that.

Sirzy Mon 08-Aug-11 16:16:58

I agree with the majority! Probably should have asked beforehand but hardly the end of the world.

Callisto Mon 08-Aug-11 16:17:54

You're very pissed off that your son used a colander to clean his lizards out and then told you? OMG is your son a stepford child or something? Poor boy, he was being responsible to keep his pets clean and responsible enough to tell you what he used. Perhaps you should get him a bucket especially for lizard cleaning so he doesn't have to improvise next time?

knitpicker Mon 08-Aug-11 16:17:56

cross post with so many others

ShatnersBassoon Mon 08-Aug-11 16:17:59

I'd be over the moon if my son was so honest, and bothered to clean his pet's home, and offered to replace the item he'd used...

If this is the worst you ever have to deal with then you are one lucky mum.
