Tiny and extremely expensive. My 6 and 2 year olds have normal (small) sized pull along cases.

I told DH our DD1 was too old for one and she is 4....

My DN has one and it is more hassle than it is worth trying to drag it round the airport. If I were you I would buy them little carry on wheely cases

I saw these recently and they seem very heavy with not much space in them. The only time I think you would use them to sit on them is at the airport or train station.

I agree with the previous poster, small suitcase on wheels is better for older children.

Ours had them when they were little and they really were great but now only our 3 year old uses one. Our 8 and 9 year olds are way too big and even our 5 year old is really. I think you've missed the boat with your DC.

I don't think they are a good idea either, and they are a right pain on planes as they need to be fully opened to get anything out

my 2 have them and still use them for sleepovers etc, but they are too old for them now, at 6 and 10. Mil bought them without telling us she was getting them, and we have never taken them on a plane as they would be a nightmare to have in the cabin, and a pain in the ass to drag about when the kids are tired. I wouldnt waste your money tbh

I looked at them for my 3 year old but they were too small to be useful and would have been a pain on planes to open. They look lovely though - I think I wanted one more than he did but practicality won in the end.

My four year old had one when we went away last year, and it was my (very tall) 8 year old who whizzed around on it most of the time. Did look pretty odd . It is very sturdy so takes the weight, but is meant for smaller children.

Also like CMOT says, you have to open it out fully to take anything out. They are quite bulky so when you need something on the plane you have to stand up, take it down, lay it on your lap, open it fully, take the thing out and do everything back in reverse to put it back. You can't just open a little bit and pull stuff out as things will fall out if it's upright. Nice seat for a child when standing in a long queue though.

I use dd's Trunki myself as it is easily roomy enough for a night or two away. DH and I took it to Le Manoir for our anniversary break, which on reflection wasn't such an amazing idea. I don't think they'd ever seen a Gruffalo trunki before.

But anyway, they are probably too old for them.

If I was 6 or 8 I'd love a rucksack with wheels. Pockets for books, DS and other bits and pieces. Pull it along when you get tired carrying it. Snazzy designs (not babyish).

My 3.11 year old has one and absolutely loves it. She sometimes takes it with her to her grandparents house when she is stopping the night (usually full of toys - she puts her clothes in a separate bag).

It was great on holiday as well and the size allowed her to take just the right amount of toys and it kept her massively entertained in the seemingly never ending Ryan Air checking queues. Didn't find it a faff getting things out of it on the plane at all.

However 6 and 8 is probably too old for one.

I'd have to disagree slightly, we think they are fab. DD 7 and DS 5 have had one each since they were 4 and 2 and we took them as hand luggage with us to New York last year. They proved to be great! DC used them to sit on when in long queues and we pulled them along on them on the way to the departure gate.

They took them on as hand luggage which was fine as they fit in the overhead lockers no problem. We just packed their inflight stuff into small rucksacks which were inside their trunkis, then before take off we took out the rucksacks which they kept with them in their seats, and stowed the trunkis in the the lockers so no need to keep getting them down.

We also use them a lot in this country for going on sleepovers and weekend stays with grandparents etc.

sunshineonarainy now you've gone and made me change my mind again! If they like them, and all we need to pack in them is a change of clothes, their DS' and games a few snacks and colouring book and pens, is it such a big deal if they are technically a little too old for them......??? I like the idea of keeping a smaller bag inside for things you need to take out during the flight. They would be handy seats too and I have a 9 month old DD2 who could inherit DD1's......

ooh can i butt in and ask what people think about these for younger children. Was just looking at one for my just turned 4 yr old for going on a 12 hr flight in a few weeks. She currently has one of these but I thought a Trunki might be bigger and more useful (and more tasteful!). What do you think?

Also have a 19 month old but was just going to get one (thinking when 19 month old old enough, 4 yr old will have grown out of it and we only have one hand luggage for the kids)
