Not AIBU, but ludicrously ridiculous, and since I seem to have begun starting stupid threads!

I just accidentally repied to a message to my friend with "Hi, gay". My friend is gay and Catholic and worried about stuff, and his name is GARY. To go with my "Reasonable about being unreasonable" award, can I get a "Very stipid and insensitive" one?

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:28:43

I replied, not repied by the way.

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:31:11

And I was stupid, not stipid.

AgentZigzag Sat 30-Jul-11 23:31:43

Ooops.

What did he say?

slartybartfast Sat 30-Jul-11 23:32:31

oops

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:32:51

He said "I'm going to ignore your Freudian prejudice, and wish you a happy holiday too!" blush

PurveyorOfBaloney Sat 30-Jul-11 23:32:55

Is that you Chaos?

AgentZigzag Sat 30-Jul-11 23:34:31

Good answer grin

ItDoesntBodenWell Sat 30-Jul-11 23:34:41

Are we supposed to care for some reason?

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:34:58

No! Don't tar another poster with my ridiculousness, please! I am dealing with nough guilt!

slartybartfast Sat 30-Jul-11 23:36:17

good he didnt take offence grin

AgentZigzag Sat 30-Jul-11 23:36:20

Not got anything else on IDBW?

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:36:20

ItDoesn'tBodeWell, you are supposed to PRETEND to care as I am a social inadequate with no friends who needs approval, OBVIOUSLY.

Casmama Sat 30-Jul-11 23:36:34

He'll just think it was a typo, no? Don't overreact its no biggie.

slartybartfast Sat 30-Jul-11 23:36:46

boden...
that is rather rude and unnecessary imo

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy Sat 30-Jul-11 23:38:02

There must be an Order of Foot In Mouth lurking at the back of cupboard somewhere in Mumsnet Towers, but perhaps it would be more apt to award you the Insignia of the Fickle Finger with special commendation for Fastest Way To Alienate Friend?

Until the jury has returned its verdict please accept this biscuit as you've certainly taken it.

Poor gay guy!

ItDoesntBodenWell Sat 30-Jul-11 23:40:10

I have clearly missed out on a fabulous back story of threads as this is completely 'Meh' but seems to have a few of you in a tizz!

MumblingRagDoll Sat 30-Jul-11 23:40:26

I think I will message my selfish friend thus "Hi meanie" and see if she improves at all....

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:40:52

Thanks for the biscuit - I will need it as I write erudite and intelligent things lurch through the internet! smile

slartybartfast Sat 30-Jul-11 23:41:19

boden.... if you can't say anything nice...

ItDoesntBodenWell Sat 30-Jul-11 23:41:44

Ie, what casmama said.

AgentZigzag Sat 30-Jul-11 23:42:18

I care CRS grin

At least you didn't write an email slagging off the work colleague you sit next to only to accidently send it to the person in question like my mum did shock

DogsBestFriend Sat 30-Jul-11 23:42:58

Me to fellow volunteer, moaning about teenaged DD's latest want: "She is NOT having a tattoo! Bloody things... "

Trailing off as I not only look at fellow volunteer and see (by far from the first time!) her own very conspicuous tattoos but also realise that charity owner has one too. And that said charity owner is standing next to me! blush

Disclaimer - as it goes I'm "each to their own" about tatts and admire the owner's bravery, but am less so about them on a 15 yo!

CRS Sat 30-Jul-11 23:46:15

Thank God it's not just me who is a foot in mouth liability. I am cringing at just this latest one. "Hi, Gay"?? Oh dear God!
