AIBU?

to be totally bowled over by how generous some people can be

Having had my 12 week scan yesterday me and DP have now announced our lovely news to family, friends and work colleagues. Everyone has been overwhelming lovely.
However, without a second thought someone at work has offered us an unused cot and changing table. I know this person is actually struggling for money but has insisted that they don't want anything at all for them (I'll obviously give them something)!
Not that I was expecting any negativity but I have just been completely taken aback with the kindness that people have shown.

Congratulations!

It is lovely how generous people can be Smile but people generally love news about babies! I can remember recieveing presents from people I barely knew that were my Mums/Gran's friends, Aunties that I hadn't seen for years started knitting, and customers at work were very generous too..

They really are. Even/especially people who hardly know you - we had a bottle of wine from the neighbours who otherwise ignore us, an entire wardrobe of virtually unworn clothes from other neighbours who said they'd all been given to their granddaughter so it would be wrong to sell them, hand-crocheted blankets from people I barely know. All really appreciated, especially the postnatal visits with chocolate!

Even when we ordered a postnatal sushi delivery they threw in two bottles of sake - though that might have been influenced by MrNC getting confused and buying £50 of sea bass...

Congratulations moom Smile

I found exactly the same, especially after DD1 was born, the amount of cards and people putting themselves out to give her stuff was really lovely.
