and let DH sort out getting the kids ready for bed?

This is my second one after the first one fell out. First time I threw up after it. This time I'm not feeling too bad but after what I went through I feel DH can pamper me for a bit!!

I didn't expect any ill-effects, but I was well wobbly afterwards and had to go for a cuppa and some biscuits before I could drive home!

I had bad cramps and felt shitty the rest of the day. Take it easy! You're not milking it!

BikeRunSki · 28/07/2011 20:09

Yes, women should milk all gynaecological (i know wrong spelling) situation.

trixymalixy · 28/07/2011 20:11

First time round I had no idea about any after effects and was really shocked at how nauseous and crampy I felt. I was extremely pissed off when the damn thing fell out and I had to go through it again.

Apparently they recommend you don't drive yourself home, except the only time it was mentioned was after the second fitting!!

You milk it, i felt awful. I had to go to bed for the afternoon.I just felt rotten, you have a good rest.

CrystalQueen · 28/07/2011 20:15

Does this mean it is hopelessly naive of me to think that my 9 am appointment for having one fitted means I will be able to hop right back on the bus and get to work?

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 28/07/2011 20:15

No-one gave me any advice about not driving. Angry

I'm going by myself next time too, but I know a bit more what to expect.

Will it hurt if they take it out? Confused I've never been in labour so my cervix is still as tight as a cat's bum. Grin

trixymalixy · 28/07/2011 20:16

I wouldn't count on feeling up to it crystal. You'd be better arranging it for the very end of the day like I did so you can go straight home.

Having the first one removed was absolutely fine, over in seconds although it was already part way out anyway. [ouch]

And this is why I was so relieved when DH agreed to go for a vasectomy!

I may have had 2 babies but with 1 EMCS and 1 ELCS I've never been more than 3cms dialated and even the nurse screwed her face up when I asked about it

worraliberty · 28/07/2011 20:34

I've never heard of any effects like this after having a coil and I've had two Shock

My last one fell out too...spookily enough just 3 days before I was due to have it changed.

I turned up ad the surgery with it wrapped in some toilet roll Blush

mosschops30 · 28/07/2011 20:36

Yanbu, i had mine put in under general anaesthetic and then spent the rest of the day recouperating in hospital.
So milk it i say Grin

Dozer · 28/07/2011 20:38

Yabu.

trixymalixy · 28/07/2011 20:48

Well given it's mainly to DH's benefit as he's not overly keen on condoms and I kept forgetting to take the pill, I don't feel any guilt about leaving him to put the kids to bed!

It's not the most pleasant of experiences having your cervix clamped and things shoved up your fanjo.

Some people pay good money for that sort of thing Grin

Scholes34 · 28/07/2011 20:55

trixy - milk it and don't give in to the temptation of having a quick check on the kids. Once you're off the couch, you'll never make it back on.

cyrstal - I recall getting on my bike and going back to work afterwards, so there's hope. Take some painkillers BEFORE you go and that will help with the fitting. I'd read and heard the fitting was painful, so I went prepared for the worse, and it wasn't actually that bad at all.

trixymalixy · 28/07/2011 21:04

Grin worraliberty

I didn't find the fitting particularly painful either time, just a bit uncomfortable and unpleasant.

Crystal, uncomfortable at the time, felt fine afterwards.
Trixy, milk it, At least for 3 days!
