Join the PTA and volunteer to run the tuck shop yourself. smile

YABU.

I remember going to buy penny sweets when I was young, they never used tongs or gloves.

According to my cadburys cookbook you have over stirred, a 200g bar could take up to 10 minutes to melt slowly, doesnt tell you how to fix it tho!

YABU - what terrible diseases do you think the DCs might pick up from the pick and mix? They will be fine. It is only sweets - you are not handling raw meat. Germs are good for children and I doubt any of the helpers were riddled with ebola.

Ooops wrong thread! blush

NettoSuperstar Fri 22-Jul-11 10:03:57

Children are utterly disgusting anyway, a few bits of hand/hair germ from sweets won't make a difference.

YABU. Mine would probably drop their sweets on the floor a few times before they ate them anyway so a few germs from some nice clean Mums aren't going to make any difference. Maybe you should offer to help next time if you could do it so much better....

I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be about children doing Rhianna moves on the dance floor.

Now that really is sick-making - watching 7 year olds in mini skirts and high heeled sandals simulating sex on the dancefloor. You see it every year at our year 2 'graduation' disco. sad

Oh, and YABU. Unless the mum picked her nose or cleared her ears out while she was serving.

It's only sweets. I think you're being a bit OTT.

Suggest you offer to do it next time then.
Don't forget your rubber gloves.

So, in your professional opinion, they're putting children's health at risk, but you won't volunteer your time and expertise because they're all cows?

YABU.

Whaaaat, of course YANBU that's gross. Sounds like y'all need to do a basic health and hygiene course.

YABU, we dont use gloves at our tuck shop either and tongs would mean half the children wouldn't get served as they take forever to use on small sweets.

Given the millions of children and adults who handle the pick and mix in shops, i'm fairly sure ours will be ok without the protective hand wear.

I would be disgusted they served sweets.
Surely organic veg sticks and homemade smoothies would be better, or some nice ham perhaps.
