I have booked a sky+HD installation for next tuesday - the day my new HD tv will arrive.

Got a call today to say that as the previous tenant didn't cancel their account with Sky, I will have to do so - in writing - which will take 30 days!

I am so hacked off, this tenant moved out over a year ago ffs, I have no clue where she is (she gets a LOT of post still)

I am sorely tempted to go with virgin or bt vision instead!

I find it extraordinary you are being required to cancel a contract that you are not a party to. If they have a cancellations team, I would call them to say it's a breach of data protection that they are talking to you about the previous tenant's contract, that you are not a party to the contract and cannot cancel it as you have no power to do so, and it is their responsibility to locate the former tenant and sort out what she owes. Also, this should not affect you as you are not a party to any of the arrangements and you should be free to have your own new contract.

Don't do it! Virgin are AWFUL and dramatically escalate the price every month for no reason. We started off paying £15pm and went up to £96! With no pay per view stuff!

bringmesunshine Call them up and complain... dh did that because our rates kept going up, they did explain that one increase was because the of change in VAT, but they cancelled another increase when dh threatened to go to BT vision.

Virgin don't have the greatest customer service, but I have absolutely no complaints about the service, much better than sky in fact because the on demand stuff is so much more extensive than Sky's. Plus Sky is obviously the love child of spawn of Satan Rupert Murdoch so waaay out of favour in our household :o
