AIBU?

To want to start a campaign to do something about dog poo????

Yes, I know it's a topic that's been discussed on here before. But I am just so tired of having to clean dog poo off shoes, scooter wheels, etc.

I live in London and I feel like the whole place is covered with dog poo. When I go for a walk with DD I keep having to tell her not to walk on grass in case there is some dog poo hiding there (there usually is !).

In theory there are supposed to be £80 fines for dog owners not picking up dog poo, but I have never seen it being enforced.

I strongly believe that something should be done about this.

Yeah, it's not easy to clean it off the pram wheels. That's where I seem to get it.

And besides, if I have to pick up my dog's shit, I don't why others shouldn't.

YANBU.

People who don't pick up dog poo should have the dogs taken from them.

what would you like done op??

Yanbu, it's vile. I think the owners' noses should be rubbed in it!

And I would like a secondary campaign focusing on horse poo. I live in a village about 50 yards from a riding school. I'm not a horse expert but I think 50 yards from their stables must be where horses like to take a bloody great big shit.

It is particularly nice when cars then drive through it, splattering it up the side of our cars. Have you seen the size of a horse poo... I'm beginning to miss the little dog poos I had to contend with when I lived in the city Confused

Yes, what do you propose to do?

Totally agree with you OP. I have a cat and I have to clean her litter tray. It's a stinky old job but this stops her from shitting in other people's gardens. if I wasn't willing to maintain a litter tray, I wouldn't have a cat.

If people can't be arsed to clean up after their dogs, they shouldn't bloody have one. It's incredibly rude and inconsiderate to let their choice of pet inconvenience and even endanger others.

Oh I can't stand it either - I know it's been done to death on here but it's such an issue. It's everywhere and makes me feel like heaving. People even put it in little bags then leave the bags on the pavement or roadside. I even saw one hanging on a gate - dog owners who allow this should be treated akin to drunk drivers - like pariahs. I don't have the answers but I know that in the city centre near me - the wardens are constantly ticketing people for dropping fag doubts - it has made a huge difference. Stricter laws, heavier penalties and more community police officer patrols maybe.

I find cat pooh even worse and smellier - I hate it!
I wish owners could somehow keep track of their cats and be made to clean it up!

I have to say I don't mind horse pooh at all though, I like the smell Grin and its a healthy kind of pooh!

Horse poo isn't a health hazard like dog shit is and it's generally not where people walk. Yanbu, OP.

You're not the first. Won't be the last. Sorry, but nothing will change

Horse poo? There is nothing wrong with horse poo. They are vegetarian so have pretty non offensive poo. I pick it up with my bare hands most night Blush

Horse shit on the roads is horrible as well

I know what needs to be done. Compulsory microchipping for all dogs. All dogs have a DNA sample taken when they are chipped. Any dog mess that's found can be tested and "matched" with the dog and it's owners. The owners pay an instant fine.

I say this as a responsible dog owner who always picks up.

Still not getting the problem with horse poo. And on the roads? You aren't going to walk in it.

I'm with you on this one. I rant about it every morning on the walk to school. The kids practise their counting skills on the amount of turds we have to avoid. It utterly ENRAGES me.

YANBU. Some cunt lets their dog poo right outside my front door (it opens right onto the street, my front door that is, as well as the dog's bowel). Exactly the same place, most days. I might have to lay in wait for them... On the other hand, I don't really mind horse poo. At least it is usually too big to accidentally not notice it and step in it! And it's not normally on the pavement. And I secretly quite like the smell of it... sorry never grew out of being a pony- mad teenager.

Its still shit though ,but I've had this argument before .I ain't going there again Grin

Carnivorous poo has pathogens in it and stinks though, vegetarian poo doesn't.

I was being tongue in cheek about the horse poo but I dislike it because:

a) when it is on the road it gets driven through and splatters everywhere (on the pavement, on parked cars etc)
b) it does 'appear' on pavements. I believe sometimes that the riders take the horses on the pavements to avoid dodgy drivers.
c) it is huge and horrible. I don't care if it is healthy poo and not bad because they are vegetarians - you would have to pay me A LOT of money to pick to up with my hands

I am not an animal person... can you tell?! Smile

:) little bit Mrs C. I promise to wash my hands thoroughly should you ever come round to mine for supper. Smile (But when you spend 2 hours a day shovelling the stuff you do get a bit blase.......)
