sharing it with the kids?

porpoisefull Mon 11-Jul-11 18:15:03

Course not, it's very bad for them. Just make sure you don't have chocolate round your mouth.

YANBU. We don't have a porch so I have to use the utility room. Nobody ever goes in there except me.

BumWiper Mon 11-Jul-11 18:18:40

Theres always a pack of baby wipes in the porch. And a mirror grin.

IroningBoardForSurfBoard Mon 11-Jul-11 18:19:00

gawd no!

it's better that way especially if it was theirs in the 1st place

grin

EuphemiaMcGonagall Mon 11-Jul-11 18:19:06

YANBU, but be careful of the slippery slope that leads to my dad's behaviour: he hides chocolate in the medicine cabinet. There's only him and my mum in the house! confused

BoysAreLikeDogs Mon 11-Jul-11 18:19:14

of course YANBU

I have my stash in a high wardrobe shelf

BumWiper Mon 11-Jul-11 18:22:36

LOL Euphemia.
I hide chocolate in a pair of wellies out there.Of course I'm the only one who ever tidies the shoe stand.

I once hid in the loo eating a magnum.

My number one trick for eating junk like biscuits, smarties, choc etc in the same room as children is this - Get a mug, fill it with whatever treat you want to eat. Hold it to your mouth now and again and have a nibble. I do this all the time. The kids (quite reasonably) think it is a cup of coffee and leave me alone to indulge smile

Squitten Mon 11-Jul-11 18:31:13

I ate the last chocolate mousse today. For the benefit of the kids, obviously...

Halftermhero - This is genius! I am going to do same.
I usually cram choc in mouth and if DD asks what I've got I tell her it's a cracker or bit of banana sad !

HalfTermHero Mon 11-Jul-11 18:47:23

Joric, it really is genius, even if I do say so myself grin. I have not been caught out even once in over 6 years. The kids don't even give you a second glance as a cup held to your mouth looks so normal!

joric Mon 11-Jul-11 18:52:22

I am already thinking of things I can put in my coffee mug... I think chocolate buttons, malteesers, ice-cream - meltable treats mmm. grin

joric Mon 11-Jul-11 18:53:42

Meltable in mouth not mug btw

stealthsquiggle Mon 11-Jul-11 18:55:03

No WAY am I going to reveal the location of the chocolate stash on MN. DH someone might read it...

("doing the washing" in the utility room is a good opprtunity for consumption, but a lousy place to hide it as it melts when the tumble drier is on)

HalfTermHero Mon 11-Jul-11 18:56:45

I find that Malteasors and Galaxy Minstrels work beautifully!

SkipToTheEnd Mon 11-Jul-11 19:09:56

HalfTermHero you are my half term hero grin

Now I know how I'm going to survive!

BumWiper Mon 11-Jul-11 19:20:08

I'm going to guess that The Babys first words will be mammy is eating chocolate.
Shes usually on the boob whilst I'm scoffing dairymilk tidying the shoes.

HalfTermHero Mon 11-Jul-11 19:22:12

Just remember to take it easy! The temptation now will be to eat 4 bags of sweets whilst 'Something special' is on TV. You need to fight the urge and limit use of the Mug trick to no more than 2 bags of Malteasors daily grin

when my sister fracturd her spine she was told to stya in bed for a while (she got home as she had a baby).

She called me up to her room, a bit weepy, and asked for her make-up box from under the bed.

Blimey, I thought, bit shallow to be applying slap just for the doctor doing a home visit.

It was her chocolate stash.............. grin

shuffleballchange Mon 11-Jul-11 20:28:46

DS1 has a nut allergy, so if I'm eating something I dont want to share, I just tell him it will make his face swell up like a balloon as its got nuts in blush.......luckily DS2 is too young at the moment to want my lovely, just for me chocolate, which, by the way, we have none of, so its chocolate spread out of the jar tonight.........with a big fat tablespoon!

shuffleballchange Mon 11-Jul-11 20:29:46

Oh and you are certainly not BU, if I had a porch I would be squatting there now, spooning chocolate spread out of the jar.

mumblechum2 Mon 11-Jul-11 20:29:57

All my goodies are in the salad drawer. The one place they would never ever go.

MrsPotionsMistress Mon 11-Jul-11 20:35:02

I have a big big bar of dairy milk in the tins cupboard. Only I go in there.

However, I want a caramel at the moment. Dairy Milk just won't cut it.

joric Mon 11-Jul-11 21:06:31

grin @ shuffle and mumble!!
