to think Chef Marco Pierre White is a hypocrite

What a hypocrite! Marco Pierre White is in an advert here in New Zealand selling stock cubes. It's on YouTube too, if anyone wants to have a look. Turns out this isn't the first time either. Considering his holier than thou attitude to other celeb chefs, I'd have thought his principles would have got in the way of this blatant moneymaking effort.

We've had that advert here for ages.

Yeah, he advertises them here too. He made a shephards pie that looked like a volcano. Can't stand the bloke, he seems like an arse, but the shepherds pie looked tasty!

YANBU, just because it's jellied doesn't make it much better than oxo. And are those his children? If so, he's selling his family as well.

Marco uses a lot of mass produced products and is quite unapologetic about it. He loves ketchup, brown sauce, and Lea and Perrins to name but three. Just because he is a formally trained chef doesn't been he's not going to like commercial products. Those are not his children by the way, his are much older.

Anyway I LOVE MPW!

Have you seen the one where he mushes the stock cube up with some oil and speads it on the chicken breast? That looks rank, how he could endorse that as a good idea I'll never know.

NestaFiesta · 11/07/2011 07:13

Prof- it's great when cooked- makes the chicken really juicy and tasty.

NevermindtheNargles · 11/07/2011 07:13

He's also an advocate of doing bacon in the microwave. I think he's great and bonkers.

YABU
Everyone has bills to pay. It's not like he's advertising KFC.

Its odd but when you read about professional chefs they talk about making great stock as the basis of any great kitchen. I do wonder how many use commercial stock and other well known sauce products though. If MPW or any chef finds a commercial product that works then it makes sense to use it.

Lea & Perrins is a standard cooking ingredient in pies, chilli, stew, dressing for chick caeser salad, corn beef hash, bubble and squeak.

Most celebrities endorse products so it doesn't bother me a great deal except for when they endorse kitchen equipment they definitely would never use in a commercial kitchen.
