molluscum in 8 year old dd

My lovely dd has developed molluscum around and on her nose. The pimples were under the skin but have started to form a small head which bursts and then dries up (looks like lots of little red spots). My dd is starting to be conscious of them and I really want to get rid of them. She's had them for at least 6 to 8 months. She had them previously in her bottom when she was about 5 years old and they disappeared after a year. Can she keep getting them?

You really need to take your child to the doctor, anything that affects them psychologically needs to be dealt with and quickly, wishing them away or trying to treat them yourself is not going to do her any favours.

Why has she had them for six months and not been to the doctor?

There's not a huge amount a doctor can do for molluscum. Maybe the op knows this already.

Can I say my DD had them and we went to the Doctor's on numerous occasions and the response varied from useless to uninterested so we tried everything known to man apart from squeezing them as DD had a few on her face and I was worried about scaring. Then a friend suggested Lanacane, medicated body powder which we got from the chemist and applied it twice a day and they were gone within the week.

Hope that helps Smile

thank you for your messages. My dd has been to the doctor who told me they were molluscum and that it was a virus and I had to wait it out. I tried a few things witch hazel, emolument (sp) cream, savlon, sudocrem but none have worked. Thank goodness they aren't large ones they are like tiny ones under the skin x any tips welcome
