Because for the last 6 months i have not been able to watch a single thing online, (iplayer, 4od etc etc) as whenever i start it just crashes! so on their advice i took my laptop to a shop and had it totally restored and like new. Low and behold it keeps happening again!

So i ring them tonight to be told this: "there is a network problem in your area, which makes the iplayers not work. this has been an on-going problem in your area for years (well dur?)"

so i say "so i just paid for my PC to be 'fixed' for no reason"

virgin fecking media "well yes, however we are getting the problem sorted"

me: "oh ok, when?"

virgin fecking media "august.....2012"

what the actual fuck? we pay full wack for a service we dont bloody get!!! grr

I hate virgin media, we are paying through the nose for their services and new customers are paying half that amout. They take the piss and i'll be phoning to cancel some stuff with them soon I think.

My internet doesn't run at the speed i'm paying for (apparently my pc too), they up the price of the TV package and take channels away.

I've had enough to be honest and know how you feel.

We pay for the XL broadband and get the equvilent of Medium! Not impressed especially as i paid out to get my laptop fixed when it didnt even need fixing!!

No idea but I went to virgin from BT when they charged us £350 for 3 months, I won't be going back any time soon.

With BT, one day out of the blue you get a massive bill because they've invented a new tariff and started charging you extra for broadband and when you ring up and say 'What the fuck' they are utterly useless.

blueeyedmonster · 09/07/2011 21:05

I've got no idea, we didn't even reach our limits on calls and internet (thats all it was for!!) They put in a lot of hidden charges I think it was. Thieving sods!!

They got binned off within a day after that.

Linerunner that sounds about right, it was our first bill too. I think I did actually say ''what the fuck too''!

I HATE Virgin Media too. They took a YEAR to install our landline (somehow we still had broadband). Every month they would charge us for our landline. EVERY MONTH I would have to call them and explain that we didn't have a landline blah blah blah. They kept making appointments to come round and then would miss them.

In the end I cancelled my account and they were happy with this on the phone but still kept sending me bills for three months. They've now referred me to a debt collection agency. I'll see you in court, Branson!

As a final irritant, I moved house and am now receiving 'Hi, potential new customer!' mail every week from them addressed to my house and there is apparently no way to stop this. I recently put them all in an envelope and sent them to Richard Branson. Would you believe ... THEY CAME BACK.

I'm with PlusNet now, it's a BT line and they have mucked up a couple of times but the PlusNet side have been really, really good.

I'm with Sky, and always found them brilliant. My family pays upwards of £100 per month, but that is for:

Unlimited Broadband with no fair usage policy
Unlimited phone calls any time of the day or the night, including internationally to upwards of 30 countries (which is epic, as I can ring my Uncle in Germany any time I like for free)
Access to Sky Anytime+
Line rental
Full Sky+HD package with all channels
And three multiroom (yes, three!) subscriptions (one for mine and DP's room, one for our lodger and one for parents room)

So it's pretty much an all-inclusive package. And for the record, their customer services have always been top-notch - I've had to ring them with issues several times and it's always been sorted out right then and there.

Trying hard not to blatantly advertise...but I will say, I love being with Sky! The only issue I ever have is them trying to extort money out of us for new Sky Boxes whenever something goes wrong or they bring out a new one. But even then, you can find boxes on eBay for a fraction of the price.

My neighbour has Sky. I was telling her about my BT saga and she said 'Whaever you do, don't go with Sky. They are terrible.'

I'm thinking about buying two paper cups and a very long piece of string.

I still have them for my mobile with no problems but often feel I shouldn't be with them as they don't deserve any money from me after what they ahve done.

I had no problems at my old house. When I found out about a potential move I rang thema nd they confirmed virgin was possible in the new house and they said it didn't matter that I ahdn't been in previous house a year yet, that the 12 month contract would continue. I was moving in April and the contract started in June.

Got it sent up at new house. Man traipsed a load of mud into new rug when he installed it. Left laods of trailing cable, was a right mess. Then internet no good, kept getting page cant be displayed, very slow. I rang them they said it was my computer, another day they said there was a fault in area, another day, they said change my browser, then I was told it was my computer again, I BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER, even slower, I rang them up again and they blamed the computer again.

I said I was going to change to BT, and was told if I did there would be a disconnection fee as i was on a 12 month contract, even though I had been with them 14 months. They said when I moved house a new contract had started. I said I was told differently and they said I wouldn't have been told that. A few months later the telly went, they came out and said it was fixed, the next day, no channels again and no internet at all, they came out and said I would ahve to wait a month for a repull job! I said in that case I am gong to go with BT. Once again they mentioned this contract, I said you aren't sticking to your side of the contract anyway as you are not providing a service. They said they will do this job, give me a free montha nd if still not happy they will let me cancel without disconnection fee.

They came out to do the job, said i had to wait another month, then asked my awkward neighbour if they could dig up his garden to sort the cables out and he moaned like mad for two weeks!

Two weeks later, still having problems and they said ok virgin isnt meant to be here at this hosue, we'll let you cancel, with no fee. I didnt cancel direct debit straight away and two months later there was a virgin payment go out my account - i rang them up it was disconnection fee!

HATE THEM!

Had a long running saga with virgin (long complicated and boring) lots of days (over the christmas period without a tv, at least 20 calls to various call centers and various line managers, eventually fixed for the same problem to happen again 3 days later, again more calls etc etc , them telling us it was " the area" then it was" the weather Hmm then they said it was "something we were doing" oh and the best one "have you turned the TV and computors on??? Shock which culminated in my normally very polite and stress free level headed DH telling them to fuck off and cancelling our contract .

We then received letters thanking us for joining them Hmm

We now use freeview for the tv and the computor stuff runs off MIFI on the 3network, we can run up to 5 computors wirelessly off it. Never looked back..and saving a small fortune each month too Grin

Best one I had from a BT call centre, was, 'Yes, it's all out fault, madam. What are we going to DO about it? Oh, nothing.'

I find Im perfectly happy with 02 for calls and broadband, and have a freeview TV which has plenty for me to watch. I use a PS3 for iPlayer.

linerunner Grin

It sounds like youve had dealings on a scale that I had with BT a few years back unfortunately. Our connection kept going down and there was interference on our landline, the connection problems also affected the calls through the home hub to - a simple enough problem to fix you would think....well no, not when its Bt you are dealing with. BT landline call centres kept blaming BT broadband and vice versa, and then BT Broadband took 3 months to admit there was a problem, I once asked why I would be phoning up every day if there wasnt to be told "I dont know but your line is testing fine".

It took another 3 months of farcical calls, engineer visits etc to actually get the problem fixed, about a week before it was fixed I phoned up in despair saying I wanted to leave.........I was celebrating when it was fixed....that lasted a day and then I got cut off alltogether, someone set an engineer to my local exchange because they read that I had wanted to leave!

I actually wrote a 10 page complaint letter and eventually got £500 compensation, apparantly it was the worst customer service everyone I spoke to in the UK had seen Grin

I can smile and laugh now but it stressed me out for months. Needless to say we are not with BT now, they would have to pay me to come back.

I feel your pain OP, had somewhat of the same problem this week which resulted with me being passed round various call centres here and India for TWO HOURS!

Feeling a tad apoplexic called the number to disconnect the service and low and behold they couldn't do enough for me..... Sorted.

duckdodgers Actually I suspect what you experienced was pretty normal customer service from BT, being passed round different departments who all have their own unique and innovative ways of fucking with your head.

Liking the compensation, though. Unusual but pleasing :o

I had problems with them last year. We phoned up to get a discussion going as Sky had offered us a really good deal.. Anyway, they offered us the same for a little less so we stayed put. DP said everything to me that they where offering for my agreement as the call was going on, and questioned everything back including the bband size. Number of months later we phoned as our internet speed was crap to be told we basically had not had the conversation and they accused us of lying pretty much saying we must of misunderstood, My partner is in the IT industry and knows what he was told. We had a nightmare trying to get what we paid for or to get out of the contract. Im still with them simply because the contract is still in and Sky internet is crap round our way but seething.
