AIBU?

AIBU to think eating chips in a shop is uncouth?

Twice in a week now I have seen people eating bags of chips whilst walking round a supermarket and a charity shop. I love chips as much as the next person but I just think it's horrible to eat greasy food whilst in a shop. I mean, can't they wait? AND I saw a woman eating a pasty whilst she shopped for stationery. Yuk. AIBU?

I wouldn't eat in a shop but I have and do eat in the street at times. That's what street food is for.

I was always taught that it wasn't nice to eat on the streets. I still don't now. I think a lot of shops have signs saying no food or drink.

Oh yeah, I don't mind in the street or on a bench, yummy smell, but not in a shop!

No, YANBU. Eating while walking around looks gross and greedy imo.

I don't care if other people are eating on the streets, I just can't bring myself to!

Oh, yes. yes it is. It is is is. Cannot be doing with it. If eating outdoors, you must sit down. This is why we have benches. Eating while walking is called 'Grazing'. Eating while standing is done from a 'trough' or 'manger'. It is, imo, vile.

Manic- exactly,it looks like the greedy feckers can't put their chips down for a second! Not a good look.

I don't like to eat whilst walking personally, but I think it's rude to take hot greasy food into a ship with nice clean goods in it. There's a time and a place.

Don't mind other people eating in the street, it used to be frowned upon but I think so many people do it now and times have changed.

YANBU, not only uncouth but disrespectful to the shop owner in potentially damaging their goods. People who have no regard for others property in this way really shit me up Angry

mmmm.
i don't know.
as a shopkeeper, i have to eat my lunch at the till (cos my evil boss doesn't give me lunchbreaks. Wink ) I am therefore a little more lenient towards those who might eat in my shop.
(if they touch the books with sticky fingers, that's a NO-NO! but if they're eating and looking, i don't mind)

(and i have a pack of baby-wipes under the counter, if needed)

nickelbabe I was about to go all indignant at your comment about evil boss and lack of lunchbreaks but thankfully looked at your name and saved myself the embarrassment! Grin

It drives me mad. Greasy fingers all over my stock. Dropped pastry crumbs all over my floor, dropped sausages rolls by darling little children in pushchairs which then get stood on and ground into the carpet.
And lastly... IT MAKES ME FUCKING HUNGRY YOU BASTARDS!
