DS is 12. I normally have to moan at him to go and wash his hair, which he is reluctant to do. He is also very difficult to get out of bed in the morning. Today, he got up early specifically to wash his hair, because "it was a bit greasy".
Just checking . I remember a very good friend whose mum spotted similar signs but got a bit too keen and close in her attempts to bond over the situation. After her mum had suggested for the umpteenth time that boys like to see a bit of lippy on a girl, my friend cracked and told her that 'it's not boys I like and Sarah doesn't wear lipstick either.'
Maybe not the best handled conversation and it took her mum a long time to accept that it wasn't a phase.
As you say, more opportunities for beginning discussions now maybe .
