sorry to point out the pbvious but have you tried just turning it off? Uplug it if you have to. Have lots of towels ready though, there is a good chance its full of water

ddubsgirl Mon 04-Jul-11 23:18:26

has it got water in it?

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile Mon 04-Jul-11 23:19:33

it has finished, it's a load from earlier

rang dh and he said put it on an extra spin and see if that releases the door

but now it's making weird whirry noises

I want to go to bed sad

BertieBotts Mon 04-Jul-11 23:19:47

Have you tried kicking it?

snice Mon 04-Jul-11 23:20:26

is it still full of water?
this is a great website that tells you how to mend washing machines

BertieBotts Mon 04-Jul-11 23:20:44

(the door. Sometimes the lock sticks on mine and kicking it releases it.)

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile Mon 04-Jul-11 23:20:59

yes Bertie I have tried kicking it!

BertieBotts Mon 04-Jul-11 23:22:14

If the uniforms aren't ready for tomorrow, just send them in normal, plain, close to school colours if possible clothes and a note. You can't help the washing machine breaking down, and it's too late to call out a plumber.

NettoSuperstar Mon 04-Jul-11 23:23:12

Oooh, bloody hell.
Have you tried smiling at it, and being nice?

FabbyChic Mon 04-Jul-11 23:24:15

If you cut the power it should allow the door to be open.

NettoSuperstar Mon 04-Jul-11 23:27:23

How do you cut the power?

Normally I mean, not when my child stamps on the floor.

Imnotaslimjim Mon 04-Jul-11 23:27:37

Sounds like there is a blockage in the pump - kick it again if you can, it might dislodge it (its usually something like a small coin or toy) has it done a fast spin?

Imnotaslimjim Mon 04-Jul-11 23:28:03

just unplug it

snice Mon 04-Jul-11 23:33:47

honestly look at the repair website

we mended ours last week which was stuck full of water

madasa Tue 05-Jul-11 17:06:18

If you've filled it with 'shit' what do you expect?
Hope you got it fixed

SarahStratton Tue 05-Jul-11 18:09:45

The Great Washing Machine Die Off has struck again sad

kaumana Tue 05-Jul-11 18:13:11

OP did you get it open?

walesblackbird Tue 05-Jul-11 18:13:14

Mine did that - the day we got back from holiday last year. It had a pile of stuff in it, it was a Friday and no-one could come out until the Tuesday. I was seething.

The lock was knackered and turning it off and on, kicking it, shoving it made no difference. The engineer had to bugger about with it and then change the door locking device.

You have my sympathy.

GreatBallsOfFluff Tue 05-Jul-11 20:27:11

Very unhelpful post but can I ask what type of washing machine it is as both my mother and I had a Hotpoint which did exactly that

Italiangirl Tue 05-Jul-11 21:08:27

Bastard thing indeed - sympathies!

Console yourself with the thought that, given the universe is seriously skewed towards the "shit" corner this eve, you're bound to experience spectacular redress tomorrow.

Cue finding a forgotten £20 note when you finally manage to get aforementioned bastard door open, a forgotten mufti day tomorrow, and a totally gorgeous salesman who flirts nicely with you when you go to buy a replacement for the bastard thing. Hang in there!

HarrietJones Tue 05-Jul-11 21:10:44

All the trendiest washing machines are breaking this week. There were a few threads at the weekend.

DanFmDorking Tue 05-Jul-11 21:49:13

Get a wicker basket – in our house the dirty clothes go into a fawn coloured wicker basket and a few days later they are in the drawers - clean and ironed.

Why don’t you get one of those?
