(the door. Sometimes the lock sticks on mine and kicking it releases it.)

If the uniforms aren't ready for tomorrow, just send them in normal, plain, close to school colours if possible clothes and a note. You can't help the washing machine breaking down, and it's too late to call out a plumber.

Oooh, bloody hell.
Have you tried smiling at it, and being nice?

Report
FabbyChic · 04/07/2011 23:24

If you cut the power it should allow the door to be open.

Report
NettoSuperstar · 04/07/2011 23:27

How do you cut the power?

Normally I mean, not when my child stamps on the floor.

Sounds like there is a blockage in the pump - kick it again if you can, it might dislodge it (its usually something like a small coin or toy) has it done a fast spin?

Report
Imnotaslimjim · 04/07/2011 23:28

just unplug it

OP did you get it open?

Mine did that - the day we got back from holiday last year. It had a pile of stuff in it, it was a Friday and no-one could come out until the Tuesday. I was seething.

The lock was knackered and turning it off and on, kicking it, shoving it made no difference. The engineer had to bugger about with it and then change the door locking device.

You have my sympathy.

GreatBallsOfFluff · 05/07/2011 20:27

Very unhelpful post but can I ask what type of washing machine it is as both my mother and I had a Hotpoint which did exactly that

Report
Italiangirl · 05/07/2011 21:08

Bastard thing indeed - sympathies!

Console yourself with the thought that, given the universe is seriously skewed towards the "shit" corner this eve, you're bound to experience spectacular redress tomorrow.

Cue finding a forgotten ÂŁ20 note when you finally manage to get aforementioned bastard door open, a forgotten mufti day tomorrow, and a totally gorgeous salesman who flirts nicely with you when you go to buy a replacement for the bastard thing. Hang in there!

All the trendiest washing machines are breaking this week. There were a few threads at the weekend.

Get a wicker basket ? in our house the dirty clothes go into a fawn coloured wicker basket and a few days later they are in the drawers - clean and ironed.

Why don?t you get one of those?
