I've had the day off today. Dropped Ds off at school, taken dog for a walk, emptied and re-loaded dishwasher, done two loads of washing (only one is hanging on the line so far), hoovered and mopped floors and nipped to the shops.

I have 2 days a week with no children (ds in nursery, dd at school).
This week, I met up with friends for coffee, did the shopping, had a tennis lesson, changed the beds, did 3 loads of washing and all the ironing, put all washing and ironing away, did baking. I am also on our local village show committee and did lots of phoning and chasing for that, and general tidying. I also pruned the roses and general gardening for about 2 hours.

I am pleased that I have ds back today for a rest!! Grin

I am working tonight so having 'day off'. Have done laundry; cleaned toilet and foul environs; fixed an errant PC; caught up on various emails; and now I have bored you lot rigid with this post.

Cook, clean, wash, shop, iron, sort and pay bills, house insurance, gardening, care for my terminally ill father who is currently in respite care, take care of my elderly mother who has just had surgery and is pretty much immobile.

Arrange and attend psychiatry and therapy appts for SEN son, sort out special school for said son and liaise with social services, therapeutic services and LEA - oh and motor neurone people in order to work out which aids my father will need when he returns home.

Enough??

In the last 12 years I have had 6 months of being at home without children - I ate chocolate and read everything on mumsnet :) :) :) now i work from home and have a toddler so I need to find a way to bring my mumsnetting up to scratch again!

oh I also have the 2 older DC's but they are at full time school. I like to think that once DC3 is at school I will be a domestic goddess and get all my 'office work' done over a couple of days and have a pristine home.....

Well I am generally at home in the day but work occasionally and tend to work 2 or 3 evenings a week but a typical day involves getting up, emtying dishwasher, doing lunchboxes, sorting all things for school, taking children to school, coming home, doing endless washing, hoovering, gardening, cleaning, tidying. Collect kids, cook the dinner, go to work or do more of the same.

BUT as I am mainly at home and have 4 children, I do all ths ferrying to and from after school clubs, parties, friends' houses.

I do all the financial stuff like paying bills, sorting insurances, admin, reading letters and paying for school things, attending school events (lots when you ahve 4 kids at different schools!).

I do all housework, all sorting, all tidying, all gardening, look after all the pets.
I buy all xmas and birthday presents, organise the parties, buy all the clothes, and anything else we need.

I volunteer in the school and help out with various sports clubs events.

I do some crafts, do the DIY, ebay clothes to save money, list items on freecycle/

I sort Drs appointments, consultants appointments, opticians, dentists.

I honestly do find I am really busy! Friday is my quiet day though. I just tidy the house a bit, do all admins and bills ready for the next week, lounge on mumsnet...

I don't work half the Fridays in a month so I use it catch up on chores and cooking.

Today I had the ultimate frustration - I bought tongue and groove, cut some of it and then found my walls were too bowed to take it Angry

Now I have to go to Homebase and take it all back - apart from the cut pack which is now firewood.

I will find out if we move to Singapore.

Not so keen

when dd started school in Germany, I was a SAHM. School finished at lunchtime so I dropped her off , went home to worry about it, picked her up, went home to worry about it IIRC

I go to the supermarket, come home, put the food away and start to write/research/check emails/admin/phone calls. Sometimes I will load the washing machine if I can be bothered may have a snooze if I'm knackered. I have the TV on for background noise, day time TV bores the pants off me though so I don't watch it.

I work from home, it's great! Grin
