YABU. Why couldn't you have just put him out of the window?

YABU. He can't hurt you (unless you're in Oz or whatever!).

I'll come and pick up your spiders if you promise to have any blood tests I might ever need. Deal? :o

I'm scared to death of them. I was shaking and almost in tears just walking up close enough to throw a book on top of it. I can't even go close enough with a pint glass to put one over the top of it. I seriously have a problem with them.

DH is the spider catcher and is always the one to pick them up and put them outside because he doesn't believe in killing them. He would think IABU and a little bit mean but he's in bed.

YANBU - I would have killed one of the little bastards freaks with anything to hand. They follow you and everything................. then run away to hide so that they can jump out at you when you think you are safe Shock

....... I'm a bad person Blush but I hate 'em!

Get yourself one of these : Spidercatcher and you'll be fine.

You really shouldn't kill them.

I don't understand how people can squish them actually. SIL grabs them in a big lump of tissue and squeezes . I'm much more squeamish about that sort of thing. I prefer to catch them and get DH to put them out the window.

I used Where the Wild Things Are to despatch a wierd looking creamy red spider last week - even Max couldn't kill it because it was still thrashing around when I peeped underneath so I had to squish it again Shock

Just out of curiosity - was it the choice of book in particular that bothered you? Was there another that you feel may have been more suitable? Charlotte's web perhaps? :)

I've had some bad experiences where I've mustered up the courage to go and find something to catch it with and it's ran away. Days later I've found it perving on me showering with me or trying to mate with me to make creepy spider babies in my bed.

Eurgh.

I have a novel named Spider but it was a paperback and I lack the strength to put behind it.

DD's First Numbers is a big A4 hardback.

Another confession: I put my foot on top of the book and moved it around until I saw the legs come off before I could stop shaking and sit down.

I'm a bad person Sad.

YABU. If I was you, I would have got my DH out of bed to put it out of the window. Seriously, I don't know how he puts up with me. Bloody hate spiders so if that really wasn't an option then YANBU.

I wish it was but he's gone to bed with a really bad headache and waking him up would have caused more aggro than it was worth.

I keep staring at the book like it's going to sprout spidery legs and toddle off. Also keep checking all walls and corners in case his friends are lurking waiting to attack me when I go for a fag.

If it was a proper spider you are a bad person. if it was one of those spindly things that's all legs then so am I.
I'll happily pick up real spider shaped spiders, but I kill the harvestman, daddy long leg type things because they keep leaving their stupid webs all over my house!

YABU. But you know that already. Put them outside. No need to touch, just catch with a jar/glass and card.

I hate killing anything but I bashed the fuck out of a huge, hairy moth tonight...bastard kept dive bombing my head Sad

I used the nearest thing to hand which was a bath towel...then noticed 'silvery looking' substance on DH's back Blush

Have you read "Aaaarrgghh Spider"?

Helped me no end. I am now only a leetle bit petrified of the eight legged ones now.

YABU. That spider could have just popped out to the spider CoOP for a pint of milk and a bag of mixed flies....her little family is still sitting on the web waiting for her to come back.

Sad

The Greek myth (the story of Arachne) about the creation of spiders is, as I remember it, rather beautiful. Read it and maybe you'll feel, if not less scared, then maybe less hostile towards them.

Oh, HelloKlitty, WHY? WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?

I'm not as cultured but I did feel a bit better towards them in Harry Potter Grin.

Hope this didn't take place in the moring - it's v good luck to see spiders then.
Always bad luck to kill them.
And they're nice: kill flies, make lovely webs, etc...
