I think they mean that you can't take hand luggage plus a handbag. If you do they will ask you to put your handbag in your hand luggage

I've gone with just a handbag before on short haul flights and had no problems. Its when people have hand luggage then try to take a handbag too where its a problem

Just a handbag is fine.

It just means that if you have a handbag then you cannot have another bag - not even a carrier bag from duty free. Everything has to go inside the one bag.

SleazyJet won't let you take a carry-on bag plus handbag - one has to fit inside the other. I guess Ryanair is the same. I grumbled a bit, but in fact I think it's a good rule - it makes getting on and off the plane much quicker.

But no-one's making you take a carry-on suitcase if you only need a handbag Grin

Child - Under 2 is an infant/baby. I assume you paid for her seat?

Flown Ryanair loads of times never had an issue taking handbag with another bag, if they ask to see hand luggage, i hold up my handbag and keep any extra down below the desk.

They never check when you get on the plane as we usually have carrier bags as well from wh smith before boarding.

You will be allowed a hand luggage bag for your child if you paid for the seat.

Also allowed to take baby changing bag at no extra charge.
