to start a vocational workers bashing thread?

I don't post that often on here, but love reading the variety of thoughts and opinions that are on here. Some of them I can not identify with at all and suspect are just for effect, and others have made me think about certain issues in a slightly different light.

However, the same theme seems to keep coming up for some people. They seem to have a very low opinion of vocational workers and some of the ways they have been described are rather lacking in taste, are very angry, bitter and generalistic.

I'm starting to wonder if we should get rid of all vocational workers, replace them with robots that do as they are told, don't have a life or personality of their own and spend 100% of their lives thinking of the greater good of everyone else but themselves. Oh and grateful, very, very grateful that they are allowed to work with the general public.

So am I being unreasonable to start up a vocational workers bashing thread, so it can all be contained to the one? Then I can hide it and continue to enjoy mumsnet for all it's surrealism, without wanting to hit the hide button constantly and then being sucked into reading it at the last minute and being cross with myself for doing so?

Sorry, I seem to have invented a new term, I thought it existed already!

As in someone who works as in a caring or supportive capacity with members of the the public, e.g. doctors, nurses, carers, teachers, social workers etc

YABU some people fell shit enough as it is without a full on bashing and this is what this thread will become. Don't feed them even if you can hide it.

I thought vocation was doing a job you were born to do? You love doing it?

It could be any job. DH works with computers and it his vocation because he loves computers and has done since he got his first one at 10.

So it could be, being a tax inspector is your vocation, because you've always loved percentages and you're a stickler for rules and regulations.

A vocation is a wonderful thing. I imagine anyone who has one should be resistant to your bashing as they are happy in their job.

I have got to say I have always felt very supported on here as a social worker and not noticed any negative comments. Not noticed anything about nurses either. Am I missing these threads - don't tell me where they are. I am a sensitive person!
