jsut was out an an event and everyone wearing them was a rather beleaugered looking parent.
" cargo pants dad"
or " rucksack we are on a day trip " mum
or " hassled i didnt have time to brush my hair" slighy hippy mum (with long haired kids)
OR " wheres your sunhat white stuff a line skirt droopy mum"

I will now keep mine for washing line run only

or (d) doesn't give a toss what some other random person thinks of them mum..?

(and I don't REALLY think you're concluding it "sadly" are you? You sound rather gleeful if I'm honest. Must be tricky being so perfect all of the time.)

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:23:59

no i am sad. I find mine quite comfy *

* aware this is the agrument used in favour of crocs

Ouch, the truth hurts.
Recommendations please, anyone, for wide flat effortlessly stylish holiday-ish sandals?
(Hate flip flops)

snailoon Sun 26-Jun-11 15:24:26

what's wrong with the first 3 of these? Don't understand #4, but very intriguing.

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:24:31

Mamag suggested this the other day and she was RIGHT

( ooooooooooooow)

hiddenhome Sun 26-Jun-11 15:25:09

What's the matter with the people you describe?

At least they're out with their kids and making the effort hmm

In my experience people who care so much about what they look are very dull indeed.

I think you need to get out more hmm

cybboid Sun 26-Jun-11 15:25:20

Birkies with a groomed foot look okay IMO

Birkies with curled yellow unpainted toenails and toe hairs NO NO NO

jamaisjedors Sun 26-Jun-11 15:25:31

grin at the white stuff where's your sunhat mum ! The one I know does indeed wear Birkenstocks!

Mind you I have clarks comfy version so am probably worse - they're not even a pretty colour, but on the other hand don't make my feet look like boats (but I have size 3 feet anyway so maybe birkies would be ok-- smug)

cybboid Sun 26-Jun-11 15:26:45

Vera were you wearing your electric blue suede Miami SOund Machine court shoes

MrsKwazii Sun 26-Jun-11 15:27:06

I bloody love my Birkies. No, they're not the most stylish of shoes but they are good value considering how long they last and are great if you are: e) the mum with joint problems who loves the fact that these shoes are comfy and don't make her feet sieze up

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:27:13

no - they were too big i TOLD oyu that
teenager over road is very pleased with them

MayorNaze Sun 26-Jun-11 15:27:27

my birkies are the dogs

and i am young and cool hmm so ner <<pokes out tongue

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:27:39

ive just been out judging
and admitting mamag is right.
it pained me tbh, the bitch

vezzie Sun 26-Jun-11 15:30:08

(This is the thread for people stuck inside on a beautiful day because they have no summer footwear fit to be seen.)
Come on, people, positive suggestions please!

MayorNaze Sun 26-Jun-11 15:31:29

i am the total opposite of droopy

think it depends on the birkie tbh

plain pastel scholl type = frump

funky patterened flip flop type - coolio

noddyholder Sun 26-Jun-11 15:31:36

I love mine What is wrong with them again?

Adair Sun 26-Jun-11 15:31:52

Oh FFS. I ASKED about this a few days ago and mumsnet told me Birkies were alright.

Although, i am probably ' hassled mum who doesnt brush hair' so maybe should just embrace it...

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:33:01

i love mine too
mamag said they were awful
and iw as thinking "I like mine" but just did some user reseach
and i dont think they look good

Pumpernickel10 Sun 26-Jun-11 15:34:03

I'm more a roxy or animal flip flop woman myself, crocs are well I cant describe them but they are ugly <boak>

mrsravelstein Sun 26-Jun-11 15:34:07

i am none of those, in fact i'm a bit of an essex swishy haired white jeans mum.... and i love my birkis... (patterned madrid though, not brown strappy ones)

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:34:21

tes i only like the single strap ones

noddyholder Sun 26-Jun-11 15:34:40

Mine look good maybe small feet helps although I have never seen tehm look bad tbh

VeraGood Sun 26-Jun-11 15:35:06

its the way they are " dressed" i think.

Pumpernickel10 Sun 26-Jun-11 15:35:13
