I wouldn't send my kid to a party like that is what I think

wimpybar Thu 23-Jun-11 18:01:20

bonkers quite frankly

frantic51 Thu 23-Jun-11 18:01:20

Is this a wind-up? hmm

meditrina Thu 23-Jun-11 18:01:59

I'd think of the Prom Concerts and send her with a Union Flag theme!

I don't actually know what a "prom dress" would look like, and I hope DD isn't invited to something with this dress code until she's old enough to be able to explain it to me.

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 23-Jun-11 18:05:03

Do you know the invitee? Are they very much tongue in cheek or do they dress their DD in designer brands and stalk about the Avenue in their Manolo Blahniks?

mumeeee Thu 23-Jun-11 18:05:44

I wouldn't send a 4 year old to a prom,

thegruffalosma Thu 23-Jun-11 18:05:46

Good Lord I thought it was bad enough when they left school!

Have you contacted the parent to ask if there's a helipad at the venue for your grand entrance? grin

Awomancalledhorse Thu 23-Jun-11 18:07:01

If my (non-exsistent) DD was invited I'd dress up her, mascara streaks down her face & let her carry an (plastic) knife covered in red food dye.
Arrive at the party & then look all coy because I presumed it was a Prom Night themed party, explain to host that it made more sense she'd theme a party for 4 year olds around a horror film over a US school event, then I'd eat some cake.

frantic51 Thu 23-Jun-11 18:07:32

I would gauge how upset DD is likely to be if she didn't go and, if possible, not go (mother's who put on parties like this for kids of this age need stopping or, if not, just put on her prettiest dress and, as you say, go on the bus! shock

Awomancalledhorse Thu 23-Jun-11 18:07:34

*dress her up, not dress up her!!

Oh that is very bad.

I would want to swerve tbh.
