to say I want "10 minutes" or "5 minutes" of cake???

DH looked at me like I was mental. We ALWAYS used to say this when I was growing up as it gives the cake server a very good idea of what size slice you would like i.e. a "10 minute" slice would be like 10 minutes on a clock so 2/3 of a quarter.

Anyone else say this??? Or did my dad just invent it???!!

When I am out I have 5 minutes, when I am at home I have 10 (or sometimes 15 ) minutes!

I would think you wanted enough cake that it would take you 10 mins to eat, which would be impossible to judge and a rather odd thing to ask for.

think your dad made it up ive never heard of it!! not likely to be adopted in our house seeing as when we have cake its when the OH is out and i hide the evidence in the bin and when DD asks for a bit i turn into that wee thing off lord of the rings i love cake..

An odd but very sensible way of doing it IMO. We have two cake slice sizes - a "DH" slice (about 10 minutes) and a "writer of dreams" slice (about 20 minutes)

Superjob I am trying very very hard to wean off hidden cake as the BFing is slowly dropping now and I quite like my size 10 figure.

oh i do that but i thought i made it up!

I was told in uni i have dyscalculia, i was 14 before i could tell the time and base the clock on all workings out otherwise i get confused.

My dh was very confused at first but i use it for everything, only a couple of mins of milk left we'll have to buy some more, i can only do pounds and ounces for weight and have a .5 system to balance our budget, that very intelligent dh does not understand, but it works.

Got an E for GCSE maths, taught myself my own system for managing. So no yanbu for the clock thing, its great.
