When we were much younger we would settle down to 5 or 6 hours viewing on a regular basis.

Las night we watched half an hour. Now it is not just that TV has got worse. It is mainly I suspect because we have changed. TV has few new tricks to show us. How is it for you?

It's because there is nothing worth watching these days. I find I only watch about an hour and then I lose interest and go mumsnetting instead.

I think the bigger choice has made me more selective, I know a lot of it is complete garbage so I only watch a few things.
However I do think my kids have missed out on the classic movies and tv plays I loved when I was about 10, there was nothing else on so I watched them, they watch re-runs of Friends and Scrubs and that is because they have 'choice'.

Yes, I go back to the time when TV was new. If one was on in a shop window a small crowd would gather to watch it.

If I had to choose between my laptop or my TV I would choose my laptop. There just doesn't seem to be anything that good on TV - Peter Andre, The Real house Wives of Orange County were just a sample of the shite that the TV companies offered last night.

I would watch more TV if companies actually put on interesting, intelligent dramas/comedies. The more they churn out cheap to produce crap such as reality shows the less I watch.

Seem to be relying more and more on American shows for quality nowadays.

Dh and I tend to watch an episode from specific DVD sets we buy or rent. so maybe 1 or 2 (usually 1) episodes an evening (so between 45 mins and 1.5 hours) . We don't do this evey evening though, maybe 3-5 times a week

We have just finished series 1 of Spartacus and are also in the middle of series 2 of Heroes.

I was also watching Brothers and Sisters, the Good Wife and Parenthood ont he evenings where we don't wats a dvd. The first two have just finished so just watching the last one now. Dh doesn't watch these at all.

Overall Dh watches less than 1 hour a night across the week, I probably watch a bit more than an hour a day but nowhere near 2.

That's about it at the moment. The problem is finding something we both like. We do watch stuff on BT Vision, but there's not much there we both like either, except The Sopranos. We'll probably dig the Frasier box sets out and start from the beginning.

We love a good comedy but there aren't any about at the moment. If we had Paramount we'd probably be glued for the night.
