experiences/thought of a vasectomy?

My DH has is going to GP this afternoon,
I have posted here, as its high traffic, as the appointment is the afternoon, was hoping for quick replies
DH is 33, Im 31 this year, he has a 14year old, previous to our relationship. I have a 13year old, and 8yo previous to our relationship, and we have a 2yo together

We have known since DD birth, she was the last

Do we have to convince the doctor this is right for us? Is he going to blatantly say no?
Im on the pill, have been bar my pregnancies, for 15 years. The pill I was on until last year increased the risk of cancer, my GP was so concerned about the length of time I had taken this pill, and changed me onto the mini pill.
Im sick of putting medicine in my body, when we both know for sure we do not want anymore DCs

Anyone DH had the procedure? time span on the pain after? anyone's GP refused to give you/partner/relative it?

I have just had a vasectomy (last Friday). My DW and I have two kids - DS 21months and DD 6 years. I am 33, my DW is 29. I had no problems persuading two doctors and two surgeons (each asked whether I wanted it).

Good luck!

P.s pain almost gone now, just 5 days after procedure. I had a GA and more invasive procedure than the normal one (which uses local anaesthetic).

My dh went to see our gp when dc3 was a few days old! We were both 33 and sure it was our last. He told us to wait until baby was a year to make sure we were sure and then go back. When we did there were no issues at all.

I'm sure you will be fine.

Oh, it took about 3 months for the appointment to come through, and he was a bit sore afterwards but it wasn't as bad as he was expecting. Back to work in two days.

DH and I had 4 children between us and didn't go to the docs in time! the 5th DC has nearly wiped us out tbh, even though we love her very much. Do it now, the docs will be fine.
DH got a minor infection which ached, but was fine within a couple of weeks, just make sure he has supportive pants for a while!Grin

dp went to docs to ask about a vasectomy we were quite nervous because i had already been told no for female sterilisation on the basis of my age, i'm just over a year younger that dp. he walked in and was basically rubber stamped for the next level. which have to say pissed me off as a double standard as we both have 3 kids from previous relationships. but he is all booked in no prob. but its to late as we just found out i am expecting Hmm.

My DH had one about a year ago. We have 4 DC and there were no problems persuading the doctor. The waiting time was quite long though, so be careful you don't get caught out in the meantime.

DH had no infections or problems, apart from being a bit sore for a couple of weeks.
