AIBU?

to think that DP is WRONG?

He seems to be under the illusion that you are supposed to add milk to the eggs when making an omelette, but not when you are making scrambled eggs. I think this is completely ridiculous and should be the other way around. Scrambled eggs always have milk, omelettes never do. AIBU?

I would recommend you read Lundy Bancroft to help you deal with this brute of a DP...Milk in an omlette..the very idea!

Tell him to watch Deep Blue Sea, LL Cool J explains it all during that film. You are right btw.

He's clearly a toxic NPD EA bully who should be forced towatch Delia Smith reruns until he realises the error of his ways.

scrambled eggs are musch creamier in texture without the milk, just add to melted butter

omelettes have no milk but they are not cooked in the same way so you get a different texture

Gordon Ramsay makes scrambled eggs without milk - they taste MUCH nicer than with milk!

Leave him now!

Milk makes eggs a bit more stiff and rubbery imo - if you want really creamy scrambled you should add a couple of extra yolks.

I think there is always a non-rebuttable presumption that dhs are wrong.
And in this case, he certainly is (although a little milk can be added to certain types of omelette, and flour too Shock).
However, I would think carefully before admitting this. I have found that letting dh get on with things, even in a wrong manner, is very useful because then I can get out of doing it. So, for example, I might use your situation to say, "Is that so? In that case I am clearly no use at making eggs, so you are going to have to do it while I have a wee squinty at what's happening on MN..."

The eggs will be fine either way.

Is this all you have to worry about? Wink

Oh darlings surely you know that cream should be added to scrambled eggs? Grin (seriously though, it's heavenly)

According to Delia you're both wrong and milk should be added to neither omelette not scrambled. Who knew?

Add to neither - put the milk down and move away from the milk now, nice and slowly.

I don't add milk to scambled eggs and I'm a great cook.

My mother says it is traditionally left over from the war to make the eggs go further during rationing...

Sounds messy, Morloth. Has your Kama Sutra got stuck to your Delia?

Neither have milk in. Just lots of butter for the scramblers.

According to my mother there are two types of omelette:

French omelette which has water and no milk

peasant omelette (probably more Northern European in origin) which has milk

Report
LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 20/06/2011 11:28

I use milk in both - and omelettes in this house have Davidstow cheddar cheese and a good handfull of fresh parsley in the egg mixture.... and two pieces of seed sensations bread, lightly toasted.
