DD is at her dads for the weekend, bored in the house all alone...am I a terrible person if I walk down to the pub (with a book to hide behind of course) and have a couple of glasses of wine?? Or am I a disgrace to all womankind for being such a wimp that I even have to ask this question? Wine

Don't see any reason why you shouldn't, men do, but have to admit I couldn't do it. Will you know anyone in the pub, is it your local?

Go ahead.

What's the book? Is it a book that says "chat me up I'm here alone" or one that says "leave me alone I want to be here alone"?

Just go. Not a probem.

YANBU to feel uncomfortable going.

YANBU to go.

What's the worst that can happen?

You'll meet some interesting folk and get a bit squiffy Smile

Wimp to ask Grin

I get it though - woman alone in pub is fascinating for some. Men often think it their duty to 'keep you company' Hmm GO GO GO!! Take the book and drink wine.

I only moved to the area 2 weeks ago so no it isn't a local! I haven't been in before, it isn't a dodgy boozers pub, it's a family dining separate pub area type affair. Haven't decided on the book yet!

Go and have fun, it's great in this day and age that you have a book/phone to keep you company and you are able to change your environment for a bit.

Go, go, go .... I do it all the time! Well not ALL the time, but if the opportunity arises I have no problem going in a pub on my own.

i've done it before (in my youth) and usually got stuck with the resident drunk Grin (not that i was complaining!)

No, of course it wouldn't BU! Unless you're under 18. No book required to hide behind. Lots of women pop into my local on their own.

I thought that INRS, but you don't go to the pub to be alone do you?

I reckon if you're there, even if you're reading, you're up for a chat.

Right, fuck it, i'm going. Best put some make up on first or I will look like the resident drunk/hag at the end of the bar.

ooh yes, go! i used to take my newspaper and sit and do the crossword. chuffing lovely bit of peace and quiet. sometimes it's a nice way to meet friendly people too if you sit at the bar. depends on how brave you are though.
