can you declare it off the road for a while?

I am on the edge of insanity. Maybe we could compare notes sometime.

Good thinking as Ive only just taxed it. I will look into that as that would be a big help. The thing Im up against is the car is not worth much anyway and to spend shedloads on it seems a bit daft. But then Im not in the position at the mo to buy a new car !

oh god Cuteboots I feel your pain - mine clapped out yesterday and the garage has just phoned and told me it will cost £450 to repair and they won't have it ready for a week because new part have to be ordered. The insurance will only give me a car for two days and it's another £90 to hire one for the rest of the week. I've been in tears all day. I just want it all to go away Sad Sad

zookeeper- I think I knew that this time it was going to go badly but not as badly as it did! Im really not in the position to buy another car but they have quoted me almost £900 to get it mended. It may be more dependant on if they have to replace the steering rack. I have my mum offering me her car for work but I did wail my eyes out for a good few hours last night....

awful isn't it? They're great until they go wrong. Mine's only worth 6-700 anyway. And I feel so out of my depth in the garage when they're all there in their overalls sucking inwardly when you ask them how much it will cost. Sending you a comradely carless hug ...
