What have I been doing wrong?

I've been swearing loads (relative to the amount posted) today...

I really like it.

Anyone who can pull the best bits out of S&B without me having to trawl through all the threads gets a vote of thanks from me.

The stuff I've bought as a result of MNers' recommendations have been the best clothes ever.

And yes, I know that sounds like an ad...

Me neither. And I pissed off someone amazingly well last week.

Oh well...... [goes back to Things to Do if you have NO FRIENDS magazine]

YANBU, I agree.

There was a thread a while back about what constitutes a mumsy outfit...I think making it the the MUMSNET SWEARS BY standard would do it...

How NOT to get me to purchase a dress...!

Report
Hassled · 15/06/2011 19:51

I didn't mind it. MN Spam is Good Spam.

And I liked that dress, except if I were to break with tradition and spend more than £40 on a dress, everyone would look at me and think "Mumsnetter".

It's an interesting idea, but it's coming across way too strongly as an advertorial.

If the products were ones that lots and lots of MNers had recommended (as the result of a survey) then I wouldn't have a problem with MNHQ grabbing whatever advertising money they could from the most popular products in return for telling us all about it.

But to recommend a dress/nail varnish just because 2 or 3 MNers have said it's good (and just because those were the products that offered MNHQ sponsorship/advertising money) is, frankly Hmm

solareclipse · 15/06/2011 20:56

No, but there is someone stylish at MNHQ judging.

Good point solareclipse Smile.

The tone's just wrong it's all a bit handbag.com or whatever that Boots website is/was.

I would like to know whether MN receives any advertising revenue from this email? Otherwise why are they doing it? Confused

Report
ZXEightyMum · 15/06/2011 22:43

I didn't get it either but then I swear automatically as soon as I wake up in the morning so probably don't need it.

You can opt out if you don't want to receive it. Personally I just delete if I don't want to read it, it takes about a second to do so.

It made me spend £100 this evening, on stuff previously recommended on S&B threads. Sigh.

YANBU it go me all riled for some reason. Too advertisey. I know I can opt out but meh....I trusted MN not to send me crap. I like getting the round-up and things like that...but some promo for Jigsaw? Keep it.

Report
ZXEightyMum · 16/06/2011 00:31

Oh I did get this after all.

Jigsaw can fuck off with their ninety eight pound dress.
