I found it a tadge patronising.

You?

Is it worth watching? I switched off after 3 seconds.

clitorisorclitoraint · 14/06/2011 12:08

Ha!! There's shots of cows though Hmm

pettyprudence · 14/06/2011 12:45

I a trying to figure out why there are cows? I cant hear the words clearly during that bit to see if there is some correlation? The video is ok, not sure if it will encourage more people to breastfeed though.

The intro by Nancy Sorrell is cringeworthy though!

clitorisorclitoraint · 14/06/2011 12:48

I think the cows are there to represent the darker side aka 'formula'.

TheCountessOlenska · 14/06/2011 12:49

Maybe the cows are to remind people that cow's milk is the alternative to breastmilk? And maybe to make people think about the process of dairy farming? (shot of cows hooked up to milking machines)

It is a tad patronising but then again so are most adverts for baby related products aimed at mothers. I'm thinking of the Aptimil ones especially.

BertieBotts · 14/06/2011 12:52

That is bizarre!

Does it just repeat itself for 8 minutes?

The cow bit was over the lyrics "Beats all the rest" Confused

It's from 'Sexy, Sassy Breastfeeding Mums'. Personally I looked and felt like a sack 'o' shite for the first 6 months, still do 16 months on!

I'm afraid I do agree Reality. Just wanted to see if I was alone in that view.

haha @ 'lactoids'

LaWeasel · 14/06/2011 13:03

I can't hear the words to start, so I just have burlesque dancers with babies and shots of cows.

Very informative. Hmm

Maybe it'd be better with subs?

jasminetom · 14/06/2011 13:04

Yuck Yuck Yuck. There is nothing sexy or sassy about those women. They look like what they are, a bunch of women who have just had babies. All very worthy I am sure but unless you have some sort of fetish NOT sexy!

Managed to get to 30 seconds this time before switching off.

I hate the word sassy.

thelittlefriend · 14/06/2011 13:12

what a load of crap. If that's what bfding does to a woman I might ff #2!!

(Disclaimer - THAT WAS A JOKE)

Cattleprod · 14/06/2011 13:13

Is it even possible to breastfeed in a boned corset?

mrsgordonfreeman · 14/06/2011 13:20

Oh, god, that woman keeps spamming me, she tried to get me to be part of the filming.

I pointed out that it is not necessary to be sexy. I think a better campaign would be to show women who are confident about breastfeeding, you know, that it's not a thing, it's not anything, it's just something they do.

I know I'm not one to talk about silly stunts but at least I got the chance to challenge some misconceptions and to show that breastfeeding mothers are normal and not potty.

mrsgordonfreeman · 14/06/2011 13:25

Cattleprod, dd can get my boobies out from a boned strapless dress, after some effort, so I'd say yes.

thefurryone · 14/06/2011 13:35

This video is totally missing the point and has really annoyed me this morning. My DS is 6 weeks old I'm currently breastfeeding, but due to ongoing issues with the latch which despite my best efforts just don't seem to be going away I'm going to have to make the switch to FF. I'm gutted about this, but I'm at the end of my tether and really don't see any way of bringing it back, I can't look after my baby if I dread him being hungry.

I've spoken to quite a few new Mums and not so new Mums about this and in my incredibly unscientific survey my experience is by no means unique. There are actually relatively few who didn't try BF initially or know that it has the best choice for the baby, they gave up because it's fucking difficult and it's even more fucking difficult to find anyone to help you get it right before you leave hospital and have to start making it up as you go along. So stop patronising people with pictures of evil cows and start putting effort in to getting people the help they need, I'm not a lazy evil Mum for not wanting to EBF for 6 months I'm a Mum who just hasn't been able to find a way to make it work despite really really wanting to.

mrsgordonfreeman · 14/06/2011 14:24

Furry, have you tried the helplines and/or a visit from a qualified lactation consultant? What sort of problems are you having?

Six weeks is a tough time, in my experience if you break the six week barrier you've cracked it.

LotteryWinnersOnAcid · 14/06/2011 14:52

Brian Belo?!

I think it's a load of crap.

I am a BF mother, I'm not a burlesque dancer - who is this video aimed at exactly? Why was it made?

I just don't understand! Brian Belo?!

FrancesFarmer · 14/06/2011 14:58

Awful. I hate that burlesque stuff and it doesn't mix well with babies.

Oh my. I had to eat my fist watching that.

pettyprudence · 14/06/2011 15:49

why can't someone make a video showing women out and about breastfeeding and showing how subtle it can be and that you don't have to whip your whole breast out? That was one of my main worries about bf. I think lots of people are aware of breast is best etc.... but why not move the drive to get people bf-ing by advertising the fact that its FREE and very quick and convenient ignoring the fact that my ds takes 40-60 mins to feed

mrsgordonfreeman · 14/06/2011 15:52

nonono breast is not best, breast is normal.

If I could only get one message out that would be it.
