AIBU?

To not envy Kate Middleton anymore?

Well, after the wedding I actually found myself a little depressed that I was never going to be a princess, but over these past few days she has been pictured at one tedious royal event after another in various different garbs and I found myself thinking how utterly exhausting it would be.

I maybe have to get dressed up for a fancy occasion a couple of times a year, and although it is fun I just cba with doing it all the time! Plus she has the dm speculating about whether or not she has worn the same pair of shoes two days in a row! All this pomp and pageantry must get a little dull after awhile, no?

That is all.

Suppose it shows that she loves him enough to put up with all of that shite.

Kind of romantic.

:)

Never did envy her.

Her life is not her own anymore.

She lives in a gilded cage now.

She seems to be revelling in it atm.

Can imagine it must soon wear thin though.

And I don´t think PW does that many engagements yet?

Wait until he´s POWs!

I really felt for her when she was at the races and her mum was in a different enclosure to her. I would imagine this was not the choice of Kate's. Who would want to be with all of her in-laws and none of the family that she obviously adores. I bet she won't have any Christmases with her own family from now on either.

Depressed that you were never going to be a princess? Are you serious? Grin

I would never envy the life of a royal.

moules, you can be a princess or queen on here, do a name change for a while. PrincessMoules has nice ring to it.:)

I think it would be fun for a bit, and I would certainly have enjoyed the game of dress ups for the wedding.

But it looks like a Royal PITA (see what I did there? Wink).

Still, lots of money tends to help my happiness level, so I would probably put up with it if the pay was good.

She hung on long enough so she must know what's in the job description. It beats working for a living - different kind of work I know but the perks probably outweigh the downside.

I feel quite sorry for her, even though she must have known what she was letting herself in for. I don't watch the news, but saw something on AOL yesterday about her wearing the same jacket twice. Well, why wouldn't she?!

It's all a bit too 'Dianaish' for my liking. Sad

I think it would be a nightmare. You'd have to be nice to people you don't like or know, watch what you're saying(unless you're prince philipWink). The press commenting on clothes, weight, facial expressions. I wouldn't change places with her for anything.

She's older and probably more mature than Diana was. Hopefully she'll handle it better.

And having to pretend to be interested in that trooping stuff on Saturday....yawn! Or do you think she really was interested?

"I bet she won't have any Christmases with her own family from now on either."

tbh I doubt that.

If PW gets on as well with her family as said, I´m sure he´ll want Christmas with the ILs.

I can´t believe that the Royals all spend all day together anyway.

And her Mum being in a different place as Ascot-well I assume Kate hadn´t done the inviting & wasn´t in a postion to ask her mum along.

It´s probably great the first time.

After that, not so much....

Poncey, she probably wouldn't have had those sort of worries if she'd married someone else. Her family are fairly well off, she'd likely marry someone of similar background.

It's no different to any high profile job (First Lady, PM, Vogue model,Pop queen), it's how you manage it. As has been pointed out, the mundane stuff is taken care of. She will have to do some ceremonial stuff as she will be given honourary titles for the military but she could do a lot of high profile stuff that her MIL did. It's not about being interested, it's a duty that comes with the job and being the wife of the future Monarch. She will have to pass that heritage on to any offspring. It's a golden cage but it's a big and v.nice cage to be in. Remember that the ILs are all getting on and in the next 20 years she will be the matriarch and still only 49

It's not a job though.

It's for life. She can't resign.

She gets no choice... the first time she gets snapped without an inane smile there will be speculation that the marriage is in trouble.... all the old shots of Diana looking bored next to Charles will be rolled out to compare...

I wouldnt want to be in her shoes for anything to be honest.

She looks very happy, in her face. And she's got fabulous legs. I'm envious of those legs!

I must admit I was a bit jealous when she first got married but when I think of it I would make a crap princess anyway , I wouldn't know what to say to all the heads of states and I don't think did you see corrie last night? Would cut the mustard,
it must also be a pain when everyone is scrutinising your every move , what if you are having a bad day? Or have the worst case of pmt? They would have to drug me if they wanted me to smile on those days.

I hope the press don't make her life too hard , she and William do seem like genuinely nice people who are in love I would be awful for anything g to spoil that.
