I liked Duck Tales as a child, don't remember the theme tune or words confused

Do you know children that have been put off by the lyrics?

The ones I remember (Dogtanian, Cities of Gold, Ulysses) all have upbeat tunes and positive lyrics it seems...

Honestly though, the lyrics of the theme tune is probably the last way I'd make a decision on what to watch!

I am going to

post twice

MissPenteuth Mon 13-Jun-11 11:30:36

This is the second post I've seen recently where the OP requests only one answer per person. Is this a new thing? Am I the only one who finds it weird?

FWIW, I watched Ducktales as a kid as well and couldn't even hum the theme tune nowadays, never mind remember the words.

Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes - it's a duck blur
You might solve a mystery or rewrite history

Duck Tales, Oo-oo
Tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales, oo-oo

D-d-d-danger, watch behind you - there's a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab onto some Duck Tales, oo-oo!
Not pony tails or cotton tails but Duck Tales, oo-oo!

When it seems they're headed for the final curtain
Bold deduction never fails, that's for certain
The worst of messes become successes!

Duck Tales, Oo-oo
Tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales, oo-oo
Not pony tails or cotton tails but Duck Tales, oo-oo!

relax, dont do it when you want to get to it.

Life is like a hurricane...

Not a problem for me.

I bought a duck tales DVD the other day (for me and DH, not DS grin ) Havent watched it yet though.

Kind of half remember the theme tune but dont have a problem. I'm certainly the least paranoid person I know and I loved it as a kid smile

Punkatheart Mon 13-Jun-11 11:33:48

Danger lurking behind them? How......

DontCallMePeanut Mon 13-Jun-11 11:34:12

I loved Ducktales as a child. Still do... I think I read they're remaking it. Don't kids enjoy being scared? I know I used to spend a lot of my time reading goosebumps, watching ghostbusters... getting my dad to tell me ghost stories...

Maybe I was a messed up kid, though grin

And only one post each? YABVVVVVVVVVVVVU!

MassagesDeclinedByNetmums Mon 13-Jun-11 11:34:48

Am gonna break the one post rule (oo, naughty me!) and post the lyrics....

biscuit get a grip it's only a cartoon, can't remember the theme tune putting me off watching it as a child and I certainly don't think of myself as a constant victim.

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit Mon 13-Jun-11 11:36:25

Very weird MissP! OP you can't dictate how the discussion unfolds, how very controlling.

Punkatheart Mon 13-Jun-11 11:36:28

...DD! Get down from the windowledge. Put down that enormous knife that I left out to carve the meat....

Sorry what were you saying?

To be honest, I loathe Disney. Largely it seems to hammer home ethical and emotional messages. So hard that you can hear 'em drop. So not a fan and perhaps not best placed to comment...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Mon 13-Jun-11 11:36:34

Ridiculous and pointless... not Ducktales, OP, which is fab, but your post. Conducting a survey indeed... hmm

I might post this again, just to skew your oh-so-important 'data'...

Punkatheart Mon 13-Jun-11 11:37:25

Also - please don't set a limit on the number of posts people can make. People will react - we are not children and this is not homework.

DontCallMePeanut Mon 13-Jun-11 11:38:13

The one post rule? It's becaue you have Prince in your name, isn't it? You're trying to control us, and can only do so by posing as a man. Damn Misogynists.

MrsTwinks Mon 13-Jun-11 11:39:09

I don't think theres anything wrong with it. I think that our fear as parents has passed onto our kids and they are mirroring our reactions IYKWIM. They wouldnt understand that its scary, if anything they'd think cool adventure, because of the upbeat tunes

I also think that not wanting "retro" cartoons has little to do with the lyrics. Of the young kids I know they want to watch what they want, not what mummy or daddy thinks is cool (not that I've tried to make them all watch dogntanian with me honest blush ) I worked in a video shop and I lost count within a month of the amount of arguements I heard along the lines of "i dont want mary poppins I want nemo again"

cannydoit Mon 13-Jun-11 11:40:15

i would be more worried about dogtannia and the muskahounds to be honest, talks about drinking beer and being faithful to the king. alcoholics and advocates of monarchism. ops more than one post, slap wrist grin

MrsTwinks, DS LOVES Mary Poppins! grin He must be a rarity

In fact, he loves ALL his musicals... Once threw a tantrum cos his bedtime collided with the sound of music... hmm

MissPenteuth Mon 13-Jun-11 11:48:08

Can't find any Gummi Bears DVDs (except pre-owned US import), but I am tempted by this.

I forget what that other 'one reply only' thread was even about. Did it end badly then?
