Who was this party for?

At a 5 year old's party this morning, the parents were all sitting around drinking and talking while two entertainers tried to keep the kids occupied. They struggled to be heard over the sheer volume of the adults. At one point, one entertainer asked for quiet and it took her over two minutes to silence the adults. Aibu to think it was the child's party and not the parents' and that they shouldn't have been drinking and being so loud?

I would understand had the parents been in a different room, but to be overpowering two loud entertainers?

Also, see-through tops are not suitable attire for a small child's party!

Doesn't sound like YABU. I was at a family birthday party for a 12 year old recently, and all the birthday girl wanted to do was watch her dvd she had got as a present. It's her party - why not? The men all sat there talking loudly and when she politely asked if they could keep it down a bit they got really arsey with her! Totally out of order methinks!

Redexpat a 12 year old should have sufficient manners to know that when you have others in your house you have to play host to them, not watch a dvd... surely? She seems to be the one that was rude, not them. Anyway, hijacked.

You are not being unreasonable... but that's not to say that parents can't have fun too! I agree they should have maybe gone in a different room.
And I have to agree with Kiwiinkits about redexpat- couldn't she have waited until everybody went home? But maybe that's just me- my kids don't see their cousins that much so family parties are always a big deal in my house.

There were 3 kitchens at the hall, a corridor and conservatory.

And yes, mum of birthday child was in a see through top.

I cringed the whole way through.
