Its taking over the living room, its huge - now our living room isnt that small and its in an alcove but its whole presence has taken over the room and i hate it already. Its 32" and DP is like a kid with a new toy - it was a freebie as his friend was dumping it in favour or a 50" flatscreener. Just makes me wonder why anyone would want a massive bloody screen in their living room. We had a 22" tv that was perfectly fine and i didnt feel like the whole room centred around the TV, but honeslty, im looking at it now and DP is watching some sort of sporting even, and I feel like the people are in my front room Hmm

I know im BU because it was free, but i liked my little tele.

Slightly irritated? I'd be livid!
Does he often take executive decisions like this without consulting you? Isn't it a bit like him arriving home with a massive sofa you don't like?

YABU. The bigger the better as far as TV's go.

I wouldnt say 32" is big to be honest, ours is 47, and I couldnt go back to a tiny wee screen!

We have a 32" and it's not that big. Neither is our living room. I'd like a bigger one :o

DH bought a 50" giant the other week and looks monstrous in our living room. I readily agreed though as I knew it would dominate the room and look ridiculous. Only possible solution is to buy a bigger house which is what I've wanted since we move in. Method in madness.

That's all you have to moan at? I'll swap my moans for yours.

Hate big televisions so YANBU. But then, a freebie is a freebie so I can see why he said yes and brought it home.

YABU it is free and a 22" tv is tiny, 32" isn't that big. I bet after a short while you'll get used to it and next time you're watching a small telly realise how much better a bigger one is.

clam to be fair, he did say to me that his friend had the TV going begging and did we want it. I dont really watch that much TV so i wasnt bothered either way. We had been contemplating buying a 32" TV from tesco with our clubcard vouchers but im glad we didnt becuase i think its too big. Its the most prominent thing in the room and im not loving it - i will however grin and bear it.

I prefer a small tv. They shouldn't be the focal point in a room. Here's hoping you get used to and can start ignoring it soon:)

Is your living room very small?
I thought our new 32 inch too big when I first saw it but soon got used to it.

well my stupid DH brought a 46" TV and i hate it too!

It is too bloody big and dominates - so i am with you OP

Vicky2011 · 12/06/2011 20:30

Yes but mrsspeart here is a BIG difference between 46" and 32"!

OP you will get used to it, honestly. Our's is 42 and I was a bit "OMFG" when it first arrived as I felt the room was all screen and no.....room, but now it seems fine. The transition will be all the easier with a 32.

YANBU unreasonable about the TV but it will get better, you'll get more used to it and it won't dominate after a while.

YABVVVVVVVVU to use gotten. Ugh! Wink

'YABVVVVVVVVU to use gotten. Ugh!'

Agreed! along with any use of 'you do the math' , 'go figure' and 'ewww' Angry - first time I ever heard that particular little gem was from Britney Spears on some chat show where she was blubbing over JT, but I've seen it on here recently!

As for the TV, YANBU. I agree with others who also hate a TV to be the dominant feature of a room. Awful.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! I thought you were going to say a 50" tv, 32" is pretty standard. And it was free! Why should he have checked with you first - if he had hesitated, someone else might have got it. He has done well!

Blokes love big tv's, end of....

Don't ask me why but they do and the more acronyms it has (HD/FSR/FV/BOLOX) the more impressed they are. It should also have a remote control with either no buttons or as many buttons as poss. (which no-one can be bothered to learn the functions of)

You'e complaining because you got a free 32' telly? Confused.
That's an average size by the way, and you'll get used to it.
