Yeah, but think of all the cleaning it'd require on a day to day basis

I like people from America.

Every. single. one.

Ooh, I'd definitely have a cleaner; I couldn't do a house like that justice!

I used to like most Americans, ZigZag, I really did. Until I saw that website.

The feckers. How dare they have lovely, big homes that are so blinkin' cheap???

(and how dare they be so fucking friendly to boot? Salt on open wound, matey, salt on open wound)

Very pretty, but it was made last year from MDF and egg-cartons from Walmart and will be gone in the next hurricane. Besides, $399.900 is about five hundred quid.

But that isn't the fault of Americans. They are lovely.

All the USA childrens shows my DD watches ( think Good Luck Charlie, So Indie, Drake and Josh) the people all have huge houses with basements for their playrooms/teenager dens/ huge washing machines.

That inspires jealousy in the mind of my innocent 9yo.
YANBU- fecking hate them.
Even though these programmes aren't real Hmm

Report
ZXEightyMum · 11/06/2011 00:26

I think that having a teenager den / basement is the hallmark of an advanced civilisation.

Last time I went to America I saw an advert for a washing machine that was nearly 5ft tall. I was so Envy

It's worse being in Australia - everything costs even more here :(
It's actually cheaper to buy stuff from America and get it shipped here than it is to buy it in Australia - how shit is that??

I used to have the fantasy of living in Tacoma and would look through properties up for sale.

That house looks like the ones they use in horror films though OP. It is probably haunted and you are better off anyway.

Don't forget the speed limit in America.
They have massive great cars then tell you that the speed limit is something like 7 mph. (Was only Florida Keys, I think 30 mph was max)

So when you go anywhere it will take you weeks to drive back.
Unlike Essex where everyone drives at 110 mph. Or so it seems.(Old Fart here)

Remember in the USA you have to pay for your own health insurance, only have two weeks holiday a year and maternity leave and pay is bad.

Also all the guns! My familly had the chance to move to the USA back in the 1980s, but the UK is 1000s better.
The USA is only good if you are rich and/or have the means to improve yourself.

Oh gaaad. That is a beautiful house. 1 fecking acre of landscaped gardens? Burlington's a lovely city too, I've been there a few times.

Sod England with its cramped houses and massive price tags. Angry

Repeat after me: Annual property taxes, annual property taxes, annual property taxes.

They will make your council tax look like "just one Starbucks a day".

YAsortofBU.

It's a 102 year old Victorian. Some of the original leaded glass remains. It will have been built out of native wood, probably by very good carpenters. It looks beautiful and probably has working fireplaces and gorgeous detail. The rooms will be much bigger than in UK homes.

It will cost a fortune to heat (even with the US's ridiculously low energy prices). The huge size of houses means that neighborhoods are rarely walkable, you have to drive and roads are dangerous because driving standards are much lower.

I want to move to America after seeing that, but what's with the pictures? Why is there a photo of a lampshade but not of the kitchen?
