I love this guy, AIBU?

Doha Thu 09-Jun-11 21:17:02

YANBU best person in the Royal family followed closely by his daughter--a chip off the old bloke. I think they are hillarious

Sensi Thu 09-Jun-11 21:18:13

Isn't he quite bigoted in his views?

Alambil Thu 09-Jun-11 21:18:30

he's interesting. I guess some of his comments may be put down to his age and the fact that old people seem to have the ability to put their foot spectacularly "in it"!

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie Thu 09-Jun-11 21:19:12

He is bigoted and opinionated and not very PC but there's an honesty or something about him. I quite like him, despite myself.

frillyflower Thu 09-Jun-11 21:19:29

YABU. They are all in-bred, dim, unpleasant parasites.

BornInAfrica Thu 09-Jun-11 21:20:26

Love him! Very clever and very witty and gloriously un-PC. Fabulous man!

As for you frilly - you sound like there's something badly amiss in your gene pool

GoodnightNobody Thu 09-Jun-11 21:20:40

yy, I often think to myself, 'that Prince Phillip with his casual racism and bigoted views, what a great guy!'

BulletWithAName Thu 09-Jun-11 21:20:43

I LOVE Prince Philip. He's a treasure!

BornInAfrica Thu 09-Jun-11 21:21:29

Hey Goodnight - pull that rod out of your arse - it's clearly not comfortable!

PacificDogwood Thu 09-Jun-11 21:21:54

AA Gill thinks he is 'deeply unpleasant' - he must be vile grin

PacificDogwood Thu 09-Jun-11 21:22:08

Oh, and YABU of course

joogle Thu 09-Jun-11 21:23:04

Seems to be like marmite!

porcamiseria Thu 09-Jun-11 21:23:36

i met him once! very very posh, he asked me where we worked and I said "hammersmith"!

Pumpernickel10 Thu 09-Jun-11 21:23:38

Not interested in him or any other royal if I'm honest, especially him he's a bigot the only ones I like are William and Harry

2BoysTooLoud Thu 09-Jun-11 21:23:54

I think we will miss him when he's gone. I'm a fan.

Sensi Thu 09-Jun-11 21:26:37

Yes he's exactly like Marmite. If Marmite had the run of the free press, was married to the Head of State and was a racist bigot.

Nefret Thu 09-Jun-11 21:28:15

I think he is great, very witty and I'm sure he comes out with all those comments just because he knows people will talk about it and just because he can get away with it. Good on him wink

joogle Thu 09-Jun-11 21:29:14

Eh? By marmite I mean people either love him or hate him

TheSkiingGardener Thu 09-Jun-11 21:30:12

He's a national calamity near a microphone and I think he's excellent! He's a product of his upbringing and background, and as we all know, that must be taken into consideration and WE MUST NOT JUDGE!

Jajas Thu 09-Jun-11 21:30:16

I love him! Ok his views are a bit 'whacky' but he is nearly 90 and it does come with the territory (my dad is 78 and voices similiar views which do leave me gasping occasionally!).

I love the un pc ness of the man if that makes sense.

Sensi Thu 09-Jun-11 21:31:36

Wow. So it's ok to be a bigot if you can get away with it.

Jajas Thu 09-Jun-11 21:31:41

omg I would hate to be Fiona Bruce!

mrswarthog Thu 09-Jun-11 21:34:02

I think he's fab. An amazingly disciplined, loyal funny man. Love the story about the queen's coronation when he leant over & sang 'Where did you get that hat to her' just after she was crowned grin
Also be wary of the racist / bigot/ nazi comments. His mother was proclaimed a righteous gentile & is commemorated at Yad Vashem, he had a very long war fighting nazis & fascists. Just because he's posh doesn't mean he's a wrong 'un.

TheSkiingGardener Thu 09-Jun-11 21:36:19

Wow, so judgey pants are OK if it's about royalty?
