AIBU?

To wonder why people are happier watching murder than sex?

Why is it okay to depict murder on afternoon TV, but sex is banned?

What sort of messed up values does our society have?

How graphic was the murder?

Most murder in the daytime is the violence equivalent of "kiss and fade to fire" sex IYSWIM.

Mind you I only tend to watch things like murder she wrote Grin

A gun murder on an old film. No gore, but no fade either.

And yet two people making love would be considered too offensive to broadcast. Do I have Christianity to thank for this lunacy?

Dunno but I agree with the conundrum.

Crime programmes always seem to have gorier and gorier killings but only sex scenes if they want to cause a reaction in the media. Weird.

Why are you blaming Christianity ???

Agree. Am fed up of prudish programming that means most adult programmes wth a teeny sniff of sex are on too late for me but it's OK to show trailers to CSI dragging corpses out of lakeses or one of the afternoon detective programmes talking openly about violent murders. Normalising violence and encouraging repression if you ask me

X posted. Agree with the sex/violence bit, have no opinion on Christianity. Unless the programme is Crusades She Wrote or something.

I know who you are OP and I know where you came from and I've been waiting for you to do this.

It also hampers my mid afternoon wank intentions. I should write to the BBC.

Yuk at your sticky BBC letter TechDad. They won't be holding that one up on CBeebies then.

When i was 8 and at a friends house she put critters on video Grin

Her dad thout this was fine but when i was not shocked she then put on a different video with a sex secen in it and her dad came back and shouted and went mad at her!

So its ok for 8 yo to watch killing but not sex! i thouth it was bonkers at the time but i didn't say anything to the dad but when i told my mum, she agreed people have more problems watching sex than someone getting killed!

But she never told me why and still i dont understand it to this day!

I do not want to watch people lurve making, thankyouverymuch. I would rather watch a gory murder with brains expoding left right and centre than some soft-focus, saxophone-soundtracked lurrrrrrve making.

Eugh.

I like to watch people being killed while they're having sex. More bang with your bang.

I didn't really mean Christianity now. More the cumulative effect of two thousand years of Judaeo-Christian rule.

I'm just guessing really. There must be a reason our culture is so weird about sex.

I hate gore but sex is fine.
Except when your mother is watching with you. Or your teenage son. And his girlfriend.

I especially enjoyed when dh rented I love you Philip Morris when my mum was staying with us and ds1 and his girlfriend thought they would watch a film with us.
It's ewan mcgregor and Jim carey. Good family fun.

TechDad that's oversharing. I know I'll think about that if I happen to watch daytime telly, will have to avoid BBC now :(
